Job Description

The Loan Underwriting Analyst position will perform underwriting due diligence reviews of loans for residential care facilities, assisted living facilities, and skilled-nursing facilities in support of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD's) Office of Healthcare Programs.ย ย 

Responsibilities

  • Review, analyze, or conduct underwriting due diligence for residential healthcare facilities to include review of:ย 
    • Appraisals of residential healthcare facilities,ย 
    • Physical condition reports of residential healthcare facilities,ย 
    • Credit histories and determining credit worthiness of multifamily borrowers, operators, and/or management agents,ย 
    • Financial statements of properties and participants,ย 
    • Quality of care issues/professional liability insurance in residential healthcare facilities.ย 
  • Review new and renewal loan applications to facilitate and ensure their compliance with HUD's lending guidance per the Multifamily handbookย 
  • Underwrite complex transactions with complicated borrower structures and unique property or market characteristicsย 
  • Monitor a loan pipeline and promptly complete underwriting review of new loans and resubmittals
  • Work in a team environment with other underwriters and closers to contribute to overall processing goalsย 
  • Work directly with lenders to ensure all loan documents are complete and shared in a timely mannerย 
  • Communicate analysis and conclusions in verbal and written formats for both technical and non-technical audiencesย 

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in finance, business or similar programย 
  • At least four years of FHA underwriting experience, with experience processing Residential Healthcare loansย 
  • Must be an approved MAP or LEAN Underwriterย 
  • Strong knowledge of real estate and mortgage finance terminology and conceptsย 
  • Excellent analytical skills and technical writing skills (including grammar, editing, and proofreading skills to draft underwriting narratives and loan committee packages)ย 
  • Ability to prioritize tasks with strong time management skillsย 
  • Strong organizational skillsย ย 
  • Work productively and accurately in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects and stringent deadlines.ย 
  • Organized and detail orientedย 
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.ย 
  • Accepting 1099 contractors
