Job description

Plan, organize, direct and control all efforts relative to the design, definition, development, implementation and maintenance of computer systems, applications, projects and programs.

This position will lead a high-performing team of managers, FTEs, and managed service partners within the End User Computing and Modern Workspace organization, which includes collaboration tools, audio/video conferencing, email and print services, and additional employee productivity applications. This mission-critical leadership role is responsible for delivering a secure, reliable, and AI-enabled environment that protects corporate information, simplifies user collaboration across digital and physical workspaces, and drives global enterprise productivity. The Managing Director will balance operational excellence with strategic transformation, ensuring the performance, stability, and supportability of the current technology ecosystem while advancing the enterprise toward a future-ready digital workplace.


Essential Functions

  • Lead teams responsible for IT design and maintenance.
  • Provide strategic direction for systes and application enhancements.
  • Lead design projects and provide information to executives.

The ideal candidate will bring a demonstrated record of success in driving technology transformation, leading high-performing teams, delivering operational excellence, and enabling measurable business outcomes across complex enterprise environments, with responsibilities that include:

  • Strategic Vision & Workplace Technology Leadership: Define and execute the strategic roadmap for a secure, unified, and modern digital workplace, delivering a seamless employee experience across collaboration platforms (e.g, M365 suite), productivity tools, endpoint technologies, and physical workplace environments while aligning technology investments to business priorities.
  • Digital Transformation & Intelligent Automation: Lead enterprise transformation initiatives by integrating employee-facing technologies with key business platforms and advancing intelligent automation, AI-powered capabilities, and agentic workflows to simplify work, improve service delivery, and increase workforce productivity.
  • Operational Excellence & Service Reliability: Ensure the stability, performance, and resilience of critical communication, collaboration, and productivity services supporting the global enterprise. Establish operational discipline, proactive monitoring, and rapid incident response capabilities to maintain high service availability and minimize business disruption when issues occur.
  • IT Delivery Services, Vendor Management & Financial Stewardship: Provide strategic leadership for global IT delivery services, managed service providers, and technology partners, ensuring service quality, operational effectiveness, contractual compliance, and continuous improvement while optimizing technology investments, licensing, and operating costs.
  • Security, Risk & Compliance Leadership: Partner with Information Security and enterprise stakeholders to deliver a modern workplace environment that is secure by design, balancing user experience, operational efficiency, and productivity with enterprise security requirements, governance standards, and regulatory obligations.
  • Enterprise Program Leadership & Systems Thinking: Lead complex, cross-functional programs with an end-to-end enterprise perspective, driving alignment across business, technology, security, and operations teams to deliver integrated solutions, accelerate value realization, and improve organizational outcomes.
  • Adoption, Measurement & Value Realization: Establish success metrics and accountability frameworks to measure technology adoption, employee experience, operational performance, and business outcomes, ensuring enterprise investments deliver measurable value and desired organizational results.

Minimum Education

Bachelor's Degree/equivalent in computer science, math or business or related field with emphasis in a quantitative discipline.

Minimum Experience

Extensive experience in systems development including design, development, implementation and maintenance of large batch or online transaction based systems. Experience in the majority of the following: mainframe, distributed systems, client server, relational systems, transaction and message systems, embedded systems, imaging and systems management and operation.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Previous management experience, strong leadership, human relations and communication skills required.


Preferred Qualifications: The desired location for this position would be Memphis, TN, Pittsburgh, PA, or Plano, TX however, this position may be located anywhere within the United States excluding Alaska, Hawaii, and US territories. Depending on your location, you may be required to work at a FedEx Campus several times per week.
