Job description

Job Summary:
The University of Tennessee, Knoxville is seeking a Desktop Administrator to join their central IT organization. This role involves providing technical solutions, project management, and mentoring within the Desktop Support leadership team, while also developing documentation for best practices.
Responsibilities:
• Analyzes, designs, tests and creates base images for university computers
• Develops scripts to improve imaging processes.
• Configures, modifies and repairs computer equipment
• Provides customer support via phone, email or onsite
• Evaluates processes, develops workflow, tests systems and posts documentation for team and/or end-users
• Provides support, guidance and communications to other LAN administrators throughout the University system.
• Develops and provides training for other team members and end users
• Creates, maintains, and/or deploys software packages for Intune or other OIT software distribution methods
• Provide support for Security during incident responses
Qualifications:
Required:
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
• Experience: Two years of relevant experience
• Advanced technical knowledge and skills with current computer hardware, software applications and operating systems
• Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, Entra, Intune and Windows provisioning
• Ability to quickly assess and provide efficient and thorough solutions to technical issues
• Ability to work independently or as a team member
• Ability to work with technical or non-technical users
• Ability to work across teams or departments to achieve unit and university goals
• Ability to understand institutional requirements in order to implement the most appropriate solutions.
• Excellent Customer Service Skills
• Excellent organizational & logistical skills
• Excellent communications skills, both oral and written
• Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without need now or in the future for sponsorship for employment-based visa status.
Preferred:
• Experience: Three or more years of experience providing technical support in a higher education environment
• Knowledge of the various university departments and systems and their dependencies
• Knowledge of various scripting
