We are seeking Malay Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Malay, a Dravidian language spoken in Kerala, India, is a priority South Asian language frequently required in immigration and asylum cases.
Responsibilities
  • Provide real-time Malay ↔ English telephonic interpretation for USCIS officers, applicants, and stakeholders.
  • Interpret accurately and impartially in immigration, legal, and administrative contexts.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with USCIS/DHS interpreter standards.
  • Handle both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge requests.
  • Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and QA reviews.
Qualifications
  • Native or near-native fluency in Malay and English.
  • 2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, community, legal, healthcare, or government preferred).
  • Knowledge of interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity.
  • Excellent telephone communication skills; ability to remain accurate under pressure.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 clearance.
