Work Environment

This role is situated in a remote setting, designed to foster collaboration among our multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals. Working in conjunction with educators, counselors, and family support staff, the LCSW will ensure students receive comprehensive, continuous care. The typical work schedule is Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, although occasional evenings, weekends, and on-call availability may be required to address urgent mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough mental health assessments to understand each student's personal history, presenting issues, and relevant risk factors.
  • Develop individual treatment plans collaboratively with students, focusing on addressing mental health challenges and promoting overall emotional well-being.
  • Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and trauma-focused therapy, to effectively address a variety of mental health issues.
  • Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions aimed at enhancing personal growth, emotional regulation, and coping skills in a school context.
  • Work closely with psychiatrists, psychologists, and other mental health professionals to ensure a coordinated and holistic approach to student care.
  • Provide immediate crisis intervention during mental health emergencies, employing de-escalation techniques and making referrals for additional support as necessary.
  • Educate students and their families on mental health topics, empowering them to navigate understanding and treatment of mental health conditions.
  • Maintain meticulous documentation of assessments, treatment plans, and other relevant records, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Engage in multidisciplinary team meetings, case discussions, and professional development sessions to promote collaboration and ongoing learning.
  • Stay informed on the latest laws, regulations, and ethical practices related to mental health care in educational settings.
Patient Population / Client Focus

The LCSW will primarily serve a diverse student population at our private school in Arlington, Virginia. This includes children from varied backgrounds with differing demographics and unique mental health challenges. The role necessitates cultural competence and an ability to create trusting relationships with students from all walks of life.

Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
  • Current LCSW licensure in the state of Virginia.
