This position supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) in Huntsville, AL. These positions require US citizenship, an existing DoD clearance (Secret or higher), and on-site work at a facility in Huntsville, Alabama (telework is not available).
Job Description:
The selected candidate will perform job duties as a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure Engineer specializing in Virtualization Solutions. They will be responsible for installing, configuring, managing, and maintaining virtualized systems to ensure data integrity, availability, and security. Supported systems are in multiple lab environments operating in support of the IBCS Product Line in Huntsville, Alabama. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Support day-to-day lab efforts ensuring that all technologies are operational.
  • Provide expert-level solutions for virtualized environments and/or Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
  • Conduct administration tasks as required including patching, updates, hardening, remediation, and management of virtualization environment.
  • Work with Product Teams in support of secure operating systems, applications, networks, hardware, databases, etc.
  • Work on multiple simultaneous tasks.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior systems administrators.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Current DoD Secret Security Clearance
  • Current DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification (i.e., Security+, etc.)
  • Associate degree and 11 years of experience, or bachelor's degree and 9 years of experience, or master's degree and 7 years of experience; an additional 4 years of related experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Manage and support various components of the technical infrastructure, including Hypervisors, storage, infrastructure solutions, system updating, patching, and hardening/STIGs.
  • In-depth knowledge of Omnissa Horizon VDI solutions
  • Experience building and administrating VMware vSphere 7.x or higher in a large environment
  • Hands-on experience with virtual machine environment management tools
  • Knowledge and understanding of Linux KVM Virtualization technologies (OpenShift)
  • Excellent problem solving, troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Broad knowledge of systems administration in technologies such as networking, storage, performance tuning, and general administration of Windows and Linux
  • Knowledge of Containerized Virtual Environments (Kubernetes, Rancher)
  • Experience with Kasm Workspaces
  • In-depth understanding of Linux systems in a Windows Domain environment
  • Experience with Windows Domain architectures including but not limited to Active Directory, GPOs, ACLs, etc.
  • Previous administration of Atlassian Tools i.e., (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo, Fisheye, Crucible, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience with virtual machine environment management tools (IaC)
  • Experience with automation tools such as Ansible
  • Scripting using Bash, PowerCLI, PowerShell
  • Strong familiarity with SAN storage systems i.e., NetApp
  • Additional Operating System Environment Certification i.e., (Linux+, RHCSA, Net+, CCNA, VMware Certified, etc.)
