Job description

Our client is seeking a talented Landscape Designer to play an active role in creating timeless outdoor spaces. From initial concept and client consultation through construction and execution, this role drives the vision and production of high-end residential landscape projects. Candidates of all experience levels—from junior designers to seasoned architects—are encouraged to apply and grow within this thriving firm.


Based in Sterling, VA, serving the greater Washington D.C. Beltway and Northern Virginia area, our client is an award-winning, luxury residential landscape design and build firm. With over 45 years in the industry, they are renowned for blending master craftsmanship and horticulture to create bespoke, high-end outdoor sanctuaries. Responsibilities

  • Drive the full lifecycle of the design process, playing an active role from concept through construction.
  • Collaborate directly with clients through material selections, project execution, and managing expectations.
  • Develop comprehensive design graphics, technical drawings, and presentation-quality illustrations.
  • Prepare detailed material take-offs and project bids, and price proposals based on rendered designs.
  • Partner with vendors to source materials required for associated designs while actively working through production challenges.
  • Manage an existing client base for references and potential new work, utilizing strong sales skills.


Requirements

  • Experience: Open to Junior through Senior levels; experience as a Landscape Designer or Architect within a design/build firm with previous residential design and estimating is preferred.
  • Education: A BS in Landscape Architecture is preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop and/or InDesign). Able to render plans in a timely manner; 3D capability would be a huge asset.
  • Industry Knowledge: Must have a strong understanding of site design, grading principles, drainage concepts, construction methods, materials, details, and regional planting design.
  • Soft Skills: Able to work as a team player, possessing a clear aesthetic that compliments the company's work, and willing to meet client needs on evenings and weekends when requested.
  • Logistics: Locally positioned with the ability to report to the office in Sterling, VA, and service the client base in Fairfax, VA, Loudoun, VA, and Montgomery County, MD.
