Electrical Designer/Drafter

Armada

Job description

About the role

Armada builds and deploys ruggedized, modular, containerized data centers that bring high-density AI compute to locations where traditional data centers cannot go. We are scaling production across multiple international markets, with deployments ranging from multi-megawatt GPU clusters to large-scale multi-unit campuses at up to 400 kW/rack.

Armada needs an Electrical Designer / Drafter to work directly under the Senior Electrical Design Engineer on the power and integration team. You will turn redlines, sketches, and engineering direction into clean, buildable, submittal-ready drawings. This is a production role - drawings you produce will be released to manufacturing partners, reviewed by AHJs, and used by commissioning crews in the field.

Location. This role is remote.

What You'll Do (Key Responsibilities)

  • Produce and maintain electrical drawing packages for modular containerized data centers: single-line diagrams, panel schedules, equipment layouts, grounding plans, raceway and cable tray routing, conduit schedules, nameplate/label schedules, and details.
  • Work from engineer-provided redlines, sketches, and load calculations to produce issue-ready drawings on Armada title blocks and drawing standards.
  • Maintain drawing standards: layer conventions, block libraries, symbol libraries, title blocks, and revision control across multiple product variants.
  • Coordinate with mechanical, structural, controls, and fire protection drafters/designers to resolve interdisciplinary conflicts - routing, clearances, penetrations - before drawings are released.
  • Assemble and manage submittal packages for review: vendor cut sheets, redline markups, and response documents.
  • Incorporate redlines from reviewers (internal and external), manage revision clouds, and maintain a clean revision history.
  • Produce as-built drawings from field markups after commissioning.
  • Support the engineering team with takeoffs: cable lengths, conduit quantities, breaker counts, and bill-of-material extracts from the drawings.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's degree, technical certificate, or equivalent hands-on experience in electrical drafting, CAD design, or electrical technology.
  • 4+ years of electrical drafting experience, with exposure to power distribution drawings (not just lighting/low-voltage).
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, Revit MEP, or both. Comfort with external references, sheet sets, and large coordinated drawing packages.
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu for markup, stamping, and submittal review workflows.
  • Working familiarity with the NEC (NFPA 70) and the ability to read and interpret manufacturer submittals (UPS, switchgear, transformers, PDUs, batteries, generators).
  • Ability to read mechanical and structural drawings well enough to catch conflicts (routing, clearances, penetrations) before drawings go out.
  • Attention to detail. Clean sheets, correct revisions, consistent symbols, no orphaned linework.
  • Clear written communication. You will be responding to RFIs and documenting revisions.

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • Experience with containerized or modular/prefabricated data center, power skid, or e-house drawing packages.
  • Exposure to international electrical standards beyond the NEC (IEC-based national codes) and the ability to produce drawing sets that meet them.
  • Experience with 480 V, medium-voltage, and other international low-voltage distribution systems.
  • Familiarity with Revit families/parameters for MEP content creation.
  • Experience producing documentation for AHJ review and large-scale energy storage permitting.
  • Familiarity with PDM / document control systems and a disciplined approach to revision management.
  • Experience preparing as-built and O&M drawing sets.

Compensation

For U.S. Based candidates: To ensure fairness and transparency, the starting base salary range for this role for candidates in the U.S. are listed below, varying based on location experience, skills, and qualifications.

We use a geographic pay structure based on cost-of-labor markets.

  • Tier 1 (e.g., SF Bay Area, NYC, Seattle): $80,960 - $101,200
  • Tier 2 (most U.S. metro areas): $70,400 - $88,000
  • Tier 3 (other cities): $66,880 - $83,600

Final compensation will be determined by experience, scope, and level, and may vary from the posted range.

In addition to base salary, this role will also be offered equity and subsidized benefits (details available upon request).

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary and equity
  • Medical, dental, and vision (subsidized cost)
  • Health savings accounts (HSA), flexible spending accounts (FSA), and dependent care FSAs (DCFSA)
  • Retirement plan options, including 401(k) and Roth 401(k)
  • Unlimited paid time off (PTO)
  • 14 paid company holidays per year
