Job description

The Role

Xos is hiring an experienced Field Service Technician responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and reporting on Xos vehicles. Operating primarily in the field, this role requires a high level of productivity and self-reliance while traveling. The Field Service Technician is responsible for taking customers' stated concerns and quantifying those into actionable technical issues. Detailed reporting on the cause, root cause, and corrective actions will drive improved production quality as well as field fix development. Exceptional customer service, knowledge of the complete vehicle, in addition to battery systems, is key to success in this position.

**This role will focus on servicing the West Coast and requires frequent multi-state and international travel, including regular cross-border travel to Canada, to support customer and field service needs**

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and report on quality and design concerns on Xos vehicles and products.
  • Collaborate with internal teams such as design, engineering, software, and external partners.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in low voltage (LV) and high voltage (HV) electrical diagnosis, controls, and module programming.
  • Apply in-depth knowledge of basic electrical concepts, including the use of various volt-ohm meters.
  • Possess strong mechanical knowledge of commercial truck mechanical systems with experience in motors and harness systems preferred.
  • Provide professional customer facing support face-to-face interactions and through phone and email communications.
  • Complete timely and accurate case notes, repair orders, and initiate new cases as required.
  • Demonstrate professional appearance and effective communication skills with customers on-site and in remote interactions.
  • Complete training objectives and certifications as assigned by management.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Proven proficiency with high and low voltage electrical systems.
  • Associates Degree or Vocational Certificate in automotive service technology related field or 4+ years of relevant experience.
  • ASE Certifications are a plus
  • CDL class A or B preferred 
  • Proficiency in Google Suite applications
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
  • A valid Driver's License and a clean driving record are required for this position, as driving is an essential function of the role.
  • Ability to meet security clearance requirements for employment and comply with all applicable pre-employment conditions, including those required by federal or customer-regulated work environments.
  • Must be legally eligible for international travel and admissible to Canada for business purposes, and able to obtain and maintain all required travel documentation.
  • Must be available to travel as business needs require (typically 60-80% of the time including overnight stays), including weekends, holidays, and outside standard business hours. Travel includes frequent cross-border assignments to Canada.
