Title: Automation Architect / Lead AI Automation Engineer

Location: 100% remote

Onsite Requirements: 100% remote (EST HOURS)

Job Description

This is a senior, highly autonomous leadership role responsible for defining and executing the automation strategy across cloud-native, microservices-based systems. The Automation Architect will design frameworks from scratch, drive in-sprint automation, and serve as a trusted technical leader across engineering, infrastructure, and leadership teams. This role requires deep testing maturity, AWS expertise, and the ability to leverage AI tools to modernize automation and uplift the entire organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Architect and evolve the automation strategy and frameworks
  • Ensure everything is tested via automation within the sprint
  • Partner daily with developers, infra teams, and product owners
  • Lead automation for full end-to-end AWS workflows (events, data, integrations)
  • Integrate and maintain automated quality gates in CI/CD pipelines
  • Use AI tools to accelerate development and teach the team best practices
  • Guide junior engineers and help transition manual testers into automation
  • Act as a go-to technical leader for quality, tooling, and innovation

Must Haves:

  • 5+ years of automation engineering experience
  • Proven experience designing automation frameworks from scratch
  • Strong hands-on expertise with Playwright (TypeScript preferred) or similar tools
  • Deep knowledge of AWS and testing distributed/cloud-native systems
  • API automation experience (REST, microservices, event-driven systems like SQS/Kafka)
  • CI/CD integration experience (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps)
  • Strong programming skills (TypeScript, Java, or Python)
  • Experience embedding automation fully in-sprint
  • Ability to work independently and own delivery, quality, and deployment
  • Executive presence and strong communication skills

  • Experience using AI-powered automation and MCP tools (Copilot, Cursor, OpenAI assistants)
