What is a remote John Deere welding?

A Remote John Deere Welding job typically involves performing welding tasks and repairs on John Deere machinery or equipment from a remote location, rather than being physically present at a factory or field. These positions often use advanced technology, such as remote-controlled welding machines, to complete tasks on agricultural or construction equipment. Workers may also provide virtual support or guidance to on-site staff regarding proper welding techniques and repairs. This role requires strong technical skills, knowledge of John Deere machinery, and the ability to adapt to remote work technologies. It is ideal for experienced welders who are comfortable with both hands-on and virtual work environments.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote John Deere welder?

To excel as a Remote John Deere Welder, you need proficiency in welding techniques, reading blueprints, and a relevant certification such as AWS or similar. Familiarity with welding equipment, safety protocols, and possibly remote diagnostic tools or digital reporting systems is important. Attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for this role. These skills ensure precise, high-quality welds, compliance with safety standards, and efficient collaboration with off-site teams, all of which are essential in remote manufacturing or repair environments.

What are some common challenges faced by remote John Deere welders, and how can they be addressed?

Remote John Deere welders often face challenges such as limited onsite supervision, reliance on digital communication, and ensuring consistent quality while working independently. Job description

Carbon Robotics is the leader in physical AI for agriculture, helping farmers become more profitable and sustainable. Its flagship product, the LaserWeeder™, is the world's leading commercial laser weeding system with hundreds of units operated by farmers in 15 countries worldwide.
LaserWeeder combines computer vision, AI, robotics, and high-powered lasers to identify weeds and destroy them with sub-millimeter precision—no herbicides, hand labor, or soil disturbance required. Growers achieve weed control cost reductions of up to 80% and crop yield increases of 5–50%, with payback in one to three years. The system is powered by Carbon AI's Large Plant Model (LPM), trained on 150 million labeled plants, and can start weeding any crop or field in minutes.
The company's second product is Carbon Autonomy, the most dependable tractor autonomy solution. Carbon Autonomy includes a retrofit tractor autonomy kit for John Deere tractors, autonomy software, and remote supervision for real-time interventions if required.
Carbon Robotics is based in Seattle, Washington State, USA and has raised $185 million in capital since 2018 from leading investors including NVIDIA's NVentures and BOND.

Carbon Robotics is deploying autonomy in real world agricultural environments. As autonomy scales, so does the need for a high-performance operational backbone to monitor, intervene and continuously improve these systems in the field.

The Sr. Manager of Autonomous Support Operations owns the strategy and execution of remote operations: from staffing models and intervention protocols to performance optimization and global scaling. You will define how humans and machines work together in real time.

What you'll do:

  • Scale Remote Operations Centers to support global, autonomous fleet growth without operational bottlenecks. You will define location strategies, redundancy models, and multi-timezone coverage while continuously improving core center infrastructure.
  • Design and refine human-in-the-loop workflows, establishing intervention thresholds and decision frameworks. You will optimize these setups to drive a measurable reduction in intervention rates while maintaining strict safety and uptime compliance.
  • Own international hiring, onboarding, and training for remote fleet operators. You will build seasonal scheduling systems aligned with fleet demand and establish performance pathways that yield high team retention and clear accountability.
  • Establish and track core operational KPIs like intervention rates, response times, and operator utilization. You will build data dashboards to eliminate bottlenecks and steadily improve machine-to-operator efficiency ratios over time.
  • Partner closely with Engineering, Product, and Field Ops teams. You will establish a tight data feedback loop, translating insights into product roadmaps that systematically reduce human intervention over time.
  • Author standard operating procedures for monitoring, intervention, and escalation. You will collaborate with internal technical teams to build remote operations tools and drive automation that reduces manual operator load.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities for Success:

  • 10+ years of experience in operations, ideally in robotics, autonomy, logistics, or high-scale real-time systems
  • Experience building and scaling operational teams in complex environments
  • Strong systems thinker—you design processes, not just manage them
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and building from zero to one
  • Data-driven, with experience defining and managing operational KPIs
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally with engineering and product teams
  • Experience with command centers, NOCs, dispatch, or remote operations is a strong plus
  • Ability to travel up to 50% to field sites or regional operational centers initially. Long term, travel will be up to 25%.
