Job description

Primary Location: United States (US) - North Carolina  - Kernersville   

As a Weld Technician with John Deere in Kernersville, NC, you will:

Perform welding operations in a production environment focused on safety, quality, and teamwork.  Job details are dependent on duties assigned but in general consist of the following:

  • Weld parts and sub-assemblies to specification using various welding processes.
  • Adjust voltage, heat, pressure, and speed to maintain quality.
  • Read and comprehend work instructions and follow established procedures.
  • Utilize manufacturing tools to record data and keep records for quality and maintenance.
  • Check results for conformance to specifications and make necessary corrections.
  • Operate power driven equipment such as forklifts and industrial trucks to move material, parts, and equipment.
  • Use various types of tools and equipment to perform work - including but not limited to CNC / robotic welding equipment, safety equipment, manual arc welders, grinders, hoists, overhead cranes, fixtures, and applicable hand and power tools.
  • Lubricate, check, and clean work equipment and tooling.
  • Assist and support other team members.
  • Clean work area and perform other miscellaneous duties inherent to the job.

These positions could be for second (2:30 pm to 11:00 pm) and/or third shift (10:30 pm to 7:00 am)

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have at least one of the following:
    • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
    • National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC)
    • At least 3 years of manufacturing work experience
  • Must have a weld certification (or equivalent) or at least 1 year experience welding in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to perform manual tasks related to described job duties for duration of work shift; including but not limited to frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and performing of repetitive actions.
  • Ability and willingness to work any shift and potential overtime (including weekends).
