Job description

Responsibilities We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized QA/Configuration Management Lead to oversee the quality assurance and configuration management processes throughout the software development lifecycle for a Program in the CO Springs, CO area. This role will ensure the quality, stability, and consistency of our deliverables while maintaining strict version control and adherence to configuration management best practices. The ideal candidate will bring innovative approaches to streamline processes while meeting high-quality standards with a focus on meeting United States Space Force (USSF) mission objectives. Quality Assurance (QA) * Develop and Implement QA Processes
  • Design, implement, and maintain QA strategies, processes, and methodologies for both automated and manual testing in alignment with the organization's goals.
  • Define and track quality metrics to evaluate the performance, functionality, and durability of software systems and products.
  • Test Strategy and Execution
  • Coordinate and implement test strategies, test plans, and test cases for various projects.
  • Lead and conduct functional, performance, regression, system integration, and user acceptance testing.
  • Oversee issue tracking, prioritization, and resolution with development teams.
  • Collaboration
  • Work closely with development teams, product managers, and stakeholders to understand product requirements and ensure QA processes align with business expectations.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration to identify risks and mitigate them at all phases of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Automated Testing
  • Encourage the use of modern tools and frameworks for automated testing.
  • Implement and monitor automated test solutions and continuous integration tests within pipelines.
  • Audit & Compliance
  • Ensure quality assurance processes meet regulatory and industry standards.
  • Conduct internal process audits and generate reports on QA activities.
Configuration Management (CM) * Configuration Strategy
  • Develop and implement configuration management frameworks, processes, and tools to track and record changes to software, hardware, documentation, and other assets.
  • Version Control
  • Maintain version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN) and ensure appropriate branching, merging, and release management practices.
  • Defect and Change Control
  • Establish standard practices for tracking and controlling software defects and system changes across multiple environments, ensuring traceability and rollback capability.
  • Environment Management
  • Manage and monitor development and testing environments to ensure proper configuration alignment with production environments.
  • Collaboration and Communication
  • Work with DevOps to define and handle release engineering and deployment pipelines.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, development teams, and stakeholders to track and manage baselines.
  • Develop and maintain CM documentation, including configuration baselines, release notes, procedures, and processes.
Qualifications Required: * BS Degree with 12-15 years; MS with 10-13 years or PhD with 10+ years in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Certification in Quality Assurance and/or Configuration Management (e.g., ISTQB, CMMI) is a plus.
  • Must possess and maintain an active TS/SCI clearance.
Technical Expertise * Extensive experience in quality assurance and configuration management processes within software or systems engineering.
  • Strong understanding of QA methodologies, testing tools, and best practices (e.g., Selenium, JIRA, Postman, TestNG).
  • Expertise in configuration management tools (e.g., Git, Jenkins, Puppet, Ansible).
  • Problem-Solving
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to address complex technical issues.
Communication * Excellent written and verbal communication skills to clearly articulate complex technical issues to a non-technical audience.

  • Proven ability to lead and supervise a team, encourage collaboration, and deliver results.
  • Process-Oriented Mindset
  • Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, or similar development methodologies.
Preferred: * Experience with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes, ISO standards (such as ISO 9001), or other QA certifications.
  • Programming or scripting experience (e.g., Python, Java, Bash).
  • Experience in regulated industries such as healthcare, government, or finance.
