Job description

Compensation: $130,000 - $150,000/year

Team & Position Details:

Virtru is looking for an IT Engineer to manage the day-to-day IT requests of our employees remotely.

The IT Engineer will partner with other teams regularly, including the People organization, Security, Engineering, and Finance. As Virtru grows, so too will the size and scope of the applications and processes you own. Be prepared to roll up your sleeves and get work done, but also to think critically about how best to scale IT resources and applications.

As an IT Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide support across multiple time-zones for geographically distributed end-users responding to tickets, incoming calls, direct messages, and e-mails to troubleshoot and resolve issues
  • Escalate unresolved issues to appropriate internal teams (e.g. engineering, security)
  • Acquire, provision, and manage endpoint and hardware inventory and lifecycle
  • Provision and de-provision employee identity and access
  • Troubleshoot local and cloud based application issues
  • Create and improve technical documentation for internal systems, procedures, and end-user solutions
  • Perform audits of permissions and access across IT systems
  • Partner with Security to meet compliance standards, including SOC 2, FedRAMP, and PCI
  • Communicate with stakeholders, plan, lead, and execute on scheduled timelines for cross-departmental projects and departmental objectives
  • Maintenance of network and related systems
  • Identifying opportunities for automation - driving development and implementation in partnership with a project manager and stakeholders

Skills that will help you thrive in this role:

  • Minimum 4 years of IT support
  • A passion for helping others and working directly with people
  • Experience in a distributed company
  • Experience supporting and deploying macOS, iPadOS, and Windows systems in a business environment
  • MDM experience required
  • Familiarity with application packaging and deployment
  • Experience with a variety of virtualization methods and systems
  • Experience working with identity management and single sign on services
  • Experience with Google Workspaces, Slack, Atlassian Suite, Github, and similar applications and suites
  • Intermediate network hardware and software management and troubleshooting
  • Proficiency with scripting languages (shell and/or Python)
  • Familiarity with configuration management software like Terraform
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate technical information to non-technical users easily
  • Enthusiastic about creating and documenting processes and solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate the implications and consequences of situations and take appropriate action to be prepared for possible contingencies
  • Ability to work quickly and simultaneously on multiple projects of varying degrees of complexity, often with multiple departments and disciplines
  • Self directed and collaborative -- ability to work autonomously and as part of a team as needed

Virtruvian qualities that will set you up for success:

  • Thinking outside of the box to respectfully challenge your teammates and managers in the pursuit of excellence
  • Strong sense of urgency with an action-oriented mindset
  • Able to collaborate and adapt to shifting priorities as business needs evolve
  • Comfortable with asynchronous communication including slack, email, zoom, etc.

Perks & Benefits:

At Virtru, we believe people do their best work when their wellbeing is put first. This is why we make your wellbeing our priority with a thoughtful and holistic program that encompasses Occupational, Mental, Social, Physical, and Environmental Wellness by offering benefits such as...

  • A Flexible PTO policy - we strongly encourage you to take time off (in addition to 14 holidays) to ensure that you are getting the proper time needed to unplug and recharge.

  • Frequent company-sponsored team celebrations that provide ample opportunities to connect with teammates and be social!

  • A flat 3% contribution to your retirement account
  • A high degree of flexibility - Have an appointment, errand, or family emergency to take care of? Hop to it! We give you the time and space to take care of you and your own first.

In addition to wellbeing, Virtru places a strong emphasis on diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. Our DB&I Council is dedicated to fostering an inclusive workplace and making the psychological safety of each and every one of our teammates a top priority.

Additional perks include:

  • Competitive compensation

  • Full medical, dental, and vision benefits
  • New Hire Swag and IT Welcome boxes
  • Structured semi-annual 360 performance reviews
