Job description

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to join our Emerging Products team. This role is primarily backend-focused Java/Kotlin, with working proficiency in React/Javascript. You'll work closely with our data platform and reporting teams, as well as product designers and product owners, to build new products from the ground up.

Location — We are flexible on remote working from home, if you are located in the USA and reside in one of the following states: CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, *IL, KS, ME, MA, NJ, NC, NY, OR, TN, TX, VA, OH and WA. We have physical offices in Austin, TX and Tampa, FL, if you prefer a hybrid option.

** Onsite interviews may be required for this role.**

What You'll Be Doing

  • Design and build the API and serving layer that powers data-intensive product experiences, using REST and/or GraphQL APIs to efficiently expose data, insights, and analytics to applications.
  • Develop highly scalable backend services using Java and Kotlin, with a focus on API-first architecture, performance, reliability, and extensibility.
  • Build new data-driven product experiences that transform large volumes of operational and analytical data into actionable insights, scoring, dashboards, and customer workflows.
  • Design and optimize data access patterns across APIs, relational databases, caching layers, and analytical data sources to support enterprise-scale workloads.
  • Build and maintain React/TypeScript user experiences, including dashboards, forms, workflows, status indicators, and drill-down experiences, while contributing to reusable components and established frontend architecture and data-flow patterns.
  • Establish clear and maintainable contracts and boundaries between frontend applications, APIs, and backend services.
  • Participate in architecture and design reviews as we take new products from early-stage development through general availability and enterprise scale.
  • Identify and solve performance and scalability bottlenecks across backend services, APIs, databases, data access patterns, and front-end applications.
  • Troubleshoot complex production issues across the full technical stack using logs, metrics, traces, query analysis, browser debugging, and other observability tools.
  • Instrument front-end applications with appropriate observability and telemetry to understand errors, performance, and customer experience in production.
  • Leverage AI-assisted development tools and techniques to improve engineering productivity and accelerate product development.
  • Participate in code reviews, document technical decisions and processes, and contribute to cross-team engineering initiatives.
  • Take ownership of features end-to-end—from architecture and implementation through testing, deployment, monitoring, and production troubleshooting.
  • Other duties as needed.

About You

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience.
  • 10+ years of software development experience building production applications, with strong experience in Java. Kotlin experience is a plus but not required.
  • 4+ years of experience working with highly scalable software systems.
  • Strong understanding of OOP design principles, data structures, and object-oriented design.
  • Knowledge of API best practices and experience developing REST / GraphQL services. gRPC experience is a plus.
  • Comfortable writing, analyzing, and troubleshooting SQL with experience in relational database design and development.
  • Expert knowledge of software quality and testing practices, including unit, integration, API, and front-end testing.
  • 2+ years of experience with React and modern front-end application development.
  • Strong TypeScript/JavaScript fundamentals, including using TypeScript to establish maintainable, reusable contracts and clear boundaries across components, APIs, and application layers.
  • Strong understanding of HTML, CSS, browser fundamentals, and accessibility, beyond simply working within a React framework.
  • Experience building reusable React components and working within established front-end architectures and data-flow patterns.
  • Ability to debug and troubleshoot front-end issues, including rendering, network, state-management, and browser-related problems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience leveraging AI tooling to accelerate software development.
