Description

The Sr. Transportation Analyst is responsible for optimizing parcel shipping operations through advanced analytics, automation, and data-driven insights. This role combines parcel expertise with modern technical skills, including AI-enabled analysis, workflow automation, dashboard development, and predictive modeling. 

Requirements

Essential Duties & Job Functions: 

  • Analytics, AI, & Automation - Develop predictive models using AI/ML or advanced statistical tools to forecast parcel spend, transit-time risks, service delays, and cost-saving opportunities. Build workflow automations using Python, SQL automation, Alteryx, RPA tools, or similar platforms to streamline invoice audits, data processing, and recurring reporting.
  • Parcel Operations & Optimization - Analyze parcel shipping data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and savings opportunities. Build customized carrier mix models and client shipping solutions to optimize performance and profitability.
  • Client Consulting & Cross-Functional Support - Present parcel performance insights, cost savings models, and optimization strategies to clients and internal stakeholders. Support Sales and Business Development by creating data-backed pricing models and parcel solution proposals.
  • Continuous Improvement & Strategy - Stay current on transportation technology, AI applications in logistics, parcel carrier updates, and regulatory changes. Recommend process improvements, automation opportunities, and technology enhancements to increase accuracy, efficiency, and client value.

Mandatory Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, Logistics, Business, Finance, Analytics, Data Science, or related field.
  • 2-5 years of experience in parcel logistics, transportation analytics, or supply chain operations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proficiency in Excel and data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of SQL and experience querying large datasets.
  • Experience with parcel or shipping software (ShipStation, Shipium, UPS WorldShip, FedEx Ship Manager).
  • Familiarity with ERP/WMS/TMS systems and carrier rate structures, DIM logic, and surcharges.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to explain complex data insights to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and collaborate within cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience using AI/ML tools for forecasting, anomaly detection, or logistics optimization.
  • Experience integrating data through APIs or building ETL workflows (Alteryx, dbt, cloud data tools).
  • Background in freight bill auditing, chargeback management, or 3PL operations.
  • Familiarity with carrier contract negotiation, RFPs, and pricing strategy.
  • Experience with Shipium or other modern parcel optimization platforms.
