You will serve as a SUPERVISORY INVENTORY MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST in the SUPPLY DEPARTMENT CODE (C500) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

  • You will serve as the primary contact for all related functions activties for the assigned availability, as well as primary coordination point for intake and delivery of kitted material to a project team in a timely manner.
  • You will communicate readiness issues affecting the scheduled start of the job to project teams.
  • You will represent the team in dealings with supervisor or manager to obtain resources.
  • You will analyze functions and processes to identify obstacles affecting the efficient executions of project tasks.
  • You will be responsible for training in all processes related to job readiness.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
  • Experience applying core material and supply principles, as well as DOD specific supply and material policies, procedures, regulations, and ability to interpret/translate same.
  • Experience applying supply chain management concepts and requirements; various inventory storage requirements for ship material (e.g. long, short, wet, dry); all production methods, procedures, material and equipment required for shipyard repair and overhaul of complex Navy vessels.
  • Experience planning and managing work schedules, materials, and technical work instructions to accomplish projects.
  • Experience applying knowledge of material planning, acquisition, storage, delivery, kitting, and issue, as well as ability to read/interpret material technical work instructions, funding principles, and procedures necessary to organize and manage material for each job.
  • Experience identifying problems, evaluating alternative solutions, and making creative/innovative/strategic recommendations, and forecasting and demand planning
  • Experience in making clear, concise, and effective oral presentations and written reports consisting of findings, graphs, charts, and other supporting documentation. Knowledge of process improvement fundamentals and principles; Knowledge of and Experience in the use of office automation systems and applications (including Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Experience prioritizing multiple resources and efforts simultaneously while operating in a high traffic and dynamic environment.
  • Experience and skill in planning, organizing, conducting performance reviews, directing and managing a team.
