Job description

About SANS

Founded in 1989, SANS Institute (SANS) began as a cooperative research and education organization. Over the next 25 years, it grew to become the most trusted and widely recognized provider of information security training and certification in the world. Today, SANS has served more than 300,000 cybersecurity professionals around the world, with more than 60,000 earning Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) security certificationsโ€”the leading certification that provides assurance to employers that their people and prospective hires can do the job.ย

At the heart of SANS is a community of practitioners, from auditors and network administrators to CISOs, who share their lessons learned and collaborate on solutions to the challenges they face. These experts, working across corporations, government agencies, and universities, come together to support and strengthen the global information security community.

Why SANS?

At SANS, our culture is defined by three pillars: Mission, Brand, and People.

  • Our Mission is to hire people who understand the importance fighting against cybersecurity threats.
  • Our Brand reflects a commitment to delivering the highest quality training.ย
  • Our People are grounded in a culture of fairness, honesty, customer focus, and a pragmatic approach.

What Youโ€™ll Achieve at SANS

We are seeking a Quality Control Analyst to join our Courseware Operations team. This role is responsible for a critical part of the quality system by analyzing defects identified during the production fix/break cycle. This position works closely daily with the team members who make the fixes on our products to ensure our high-quality standards are met.

As a Quality Control Analyst, you will:

  • Triage and analyze incoming defects identified by Quality Control testers to determine remediation action during production
  • Work closely with Quality Management team to provide daily status updates on issues and keep team informed on potential delays or roadblocks
  • Audit video and audio segments to determine where edits can be made in course content and communicate this to Course Developers
  • Review animation inserts to determine if the content flows correctly where insertion is requested and communicate with asset capture to resolve issues
  • Verify defect fixes to make sure they are done to specified requirements
  • Triage and verify package change content
  • Escalate content issues to management as needed when other SANS teams need to perform fixes
  • Collaborate with internal teams to provide feedback about defects and opportunities to prevent them in future projects
  • Assist with data collection for training and improving Quality Tester performance
  • Track and update daily production task dashboards
  • Serve as backup for the Quality Supervisor by coordinating and executing course release activities when required
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Work Schedule

  • Part-time, less than 30 hours per week
  • Typical schedule is Mondayโ€“Thursday, 8:00 a.m.โ€“3:00 p.m. ET and Friday 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. ET
  • Occasional weekend coverage or schedule flexibility may be required to support production deadlines

What Weโ€™re Looking For

Every SANS employee brings something unique. For this role, weโ€™re looking for candidates with:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work efficiently on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to communicate with remote team members clearly and precisely
  • Unrestricted authorization to work in the USA; visa sponsorship is not available.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Minimum 1 year experience working in a Quality role or related field
  • Familiarity with Microsoft office products and Smartsheet
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow a plus
  • Experience working with issue management software a plus (JIRA, Redmine, etc.)

Benefits and Perks of Working at SANS

Weโ€™re committed to fair and equitable compensation. The expected pay range for this position is $26 - $30/hr, depending on geographic location, skills, and experience. At SANS, pay equity and transparency are priorities.

We offer a comprehensive benefits package that supports your total well-being so you can be and deliver your best. This means caring for you and your loved ones' physical, financial, and mental health, as well as providing the flexibility you need to thrive personally and professionally:

  • Financial Benefits: Competitive base salary,ย bonus opportunities, and a 401(k) plan with company match.
  • Time Off & Flexibility: Generous paid time off, including volunteer time.
  • Learning & Development: Access to professional development and SANS training opportunities.

Flexibility and Balance at SANS

We support our colleagues with the tools and flexibility they need to thrive, both professionally and personally.
