What impact you will have

As a Field Services Technician, you will be on the front lines of Submer's deployments across the United States. You'll be responsible for installing, commissioning, maintaining, and supporting Submer systems on-site at datacenters and client facilities. This is a dynamic, travel-heavy role ideal for someone with strong electromechanical skills, customer-facing professionalism, and a drive to solve real-world challenges.

What you'll do

  • Perform on-site installation, commissioning, and testing of Submer's systems.
  • Execute preventive and corrective maintenance tasks.
  • Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis for hardware, plumbing, and mechanical/electrical systems.
  • Interface directly with customers, contractors, and project teams to ensure smooth deployments and service delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and local site protocols.
  • Document all site activities including installations, interventions, and system updates.
  • Provide remote support or on-site escalation when required.
  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to report issues and suggest design improvements.
  • Maintain tools, spare parts, and test equipment in good working order.
  • Assist in training clients or partners on proper operation and maintenance procedures.
  • When onsite in our Houston office, support our product engineering, assembly and testing lab activities.

What you'll need

  • 8+ years of experience in field services, datacenter operations, or industrial system installation (e.g., HVAC, mechanical, or electrical systems).
  • Technical training in electromechanical engineering, HVAC, electrical systems, or related field preferred.
  • Experience working in mission-critical environments (datacenters, clean rooms, industrial systems) is a strong plus.
  • Solid understanding of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing (MEP) systems.
  • Solid understanding of PLC coding principles and capable of making basic edits or adjustments (though not experienced in full-scale PLC programming or development)
  • Strong hands-on troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Comfortable reading technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
  • Clear, confident communication skills with a customer-first attitude.
  • Ability to work independently in remote, high-pressure environments.
  • Willingness to travel up to 75% across the U.S., sometimes internationally.
  • US Secret or Top Secret Clearance is preferred
