The ideal candidate will lead the design and implementation of scalable interoperability solutions focused on healthcare data exchange, semantic interoperability, APIs, and enterprise integration architectures. This role will work closely with technical and business stakeholders to modernize healthcare platforms, improve system connectivity, and support secure, standards-based information exchange across enterprise environments.

The candidate must reside within the continental US.

Responsibilities:

  • Architect and lead the implementation of enterprise interoperability solutions across healthcare messaging, APIs, document exchange, and platform integration services.
  • Translate business and technical requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable architecture designs.
  • Design healthcare integration solutions leveraging standards such as HL7v2, FHIR, CCDA, IHE, and X12.
  • Lead technical teams in developing interoperable APIs, exchange workflows, and integration services.
  • Design and review REST, SOAP, and web service-based integration architectures and API frameworks.
  • Support cloud modernization, automation initiatives, CI/CD enablement, and scalable deployment strategies.
  • Collaborate with engineers, business owners, and partner teams to align technical solutions with mission objectives and operational needs.
  • Provide architecture governance, technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance across delivery teams.
  • Develop and maintain architecture documentation, interface specifications, technical standards, and design patterns.
  • Support roadmap planning, technical assessments, platform modernization efforts, and future-state architecture evolution.
  • Take on additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to support team objectives and ensure the success of the project.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in solution architecture, systems integration, or healthcare interoperability environments.
  • Strong experience designing enterprise healthcare interoperability solutions using HL7v2, FHIR, CCDA, IHE, or X12 standards.
  • Experience designing and implementing APIs, web services, and enterprise integration patterns.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, automation frameworks, and containerized environments.
  • Experience with security and authorization frameworks, including OAuth 2.0, OIDC, and SAML 2.0.
  • Strong communication, leadership, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and architecture governance capabilities.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Government clearance as required.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs or other federal healthcare organizations is preferred.
  • Experience with InterSystems HealthShare, IRIS, or similar healthcare integration platforms is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with semantic interoperability, healthcare platform modernization, and enterprise integration initiatives is preferred.
  • HealthShare Unified Care Record Technical Specialist or related certifications are a plus.
SAFe Agile Architect or related Agile certifications are preferred.
  • Experience supporting cloud-native healthcare modernization efforts is a plus.

Benefits:
