Job Description:
Join Job Duck as a Criminal Defense Legal Assistant and play a key role in supporting a growing Criminal Defense practice dedicated to providing personalized and high quality representation to every client. In this position, you will help manage the administrative and case related functions that keep the practice running efficiently and allow the attorney to focus on legal strategy and client advocacy. You will serve as an important point of contact for clients, ensuring they feel informed, supported, and well cared for throughout every stage of their case. Success in this role requires strong organization, excellent communication skills, and a genuine commitment to exceptional client service. This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys taking ownership, building positive client relationships, and making a meaningful impact every day.
Monthly compensation: 1150 USD to 1220 USD
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Process bond modification requests
  • File motions and monitor filing requirements
  • Prepare and send letters of representation
  • Create and maintain client files and case records
  • Calendar court dates, hearings, deadlines, meetings, and appointments
  • Open and manage new cases in MyCase
  • Monitor and update information within MyCase CRM
  • Maintain organized electronic records using Dropbox and firm systems
  • Download, organize, and maintain evidence and supporting case materials

  • Send contracts and legal documents through DocuSign
  • Coordinate client communications regarding administrative and non-legal matters

  • Guide existing clients through administrative processes and case-related updates
  • Send invoices and assist with billing administration
  • Assist prospective clients and direct inquiries to the appropriate person
  • Draft, prepare, and file legal documents as directed
  • Answer and route incoming calls appropriately
  • Prepare and submit reset requests

Requirements:
2-3 years of experience as a Legal Assistant, Administrative Assistant, Virtual Assistant, Case Manager, or similar professional support role preferred
Criminal defense background is highly appreciated
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively
Strong client service and relationship management skills
Commitment to delivering personalized and attentive client support

• Call Volume: Approximately 16 to 30 calls per day
