What is a Remote Intake Attorney?

A Remote Intake Attorney is a legal professional who works primarily online or over the phone to assess potential clients' legal needs and determine if a law firm can assist with their case. They conduct initial consultations, gather relevant information, and help decide whether a case should move forward. Working remotely, they often serve as the first point of contact for clients, ensuring efficient and thorough evaluation before referring the case to the appropriate legal team. This role allows law firms to streamline their intake process and provide timely responses to prospective clients.

What are some common challenges faced by Remote Intake Attorneys and how can they be managed?

Remote Intake Attorneys often encounter challenges related to communication and information gathering, as they must evaluate potential cases without face-to-face interaction. Clear, empathetic communication is crucial to ensure clients feel heard and understood, despite the virtual setting. Additionally, remote attorneys must be adept at using legal technology platforms and maintaining organized digital records. To manage these challenges, it’s helpful to establish structured intake processes, regularly collaborate with colleagues via video meetings, and stay updated on best practices for remote client engagement.

Job description

Family Law Attorney – Minneapolis, MN (Fully Remote) | $10,000 Hiring Bonus Available

Atticus Family Law is looking for a Family Law Attorney who wants to build a strong career in family law without sacrificing support, structure, or balance.

For more than 20 years, we've helped clients navigate divorce, custody, parenting time, and the other transitions that change people's lives. Our fully remote team serves clients across the Minneapolis area, backed by proven systems and dedicated support staff that let attorneys focus on meaningful legal work rather than administrative noise.

This role is for an attorney with at least two years of Minnesota family law experience who is ready to grow their practice. You'll work alongside a team that takes mentorship seriously, values honest collaboration, and holds itself to a high standard for clients and for each other. It's a place to do good work, build real skill, and know your effort is seen.

What You Bring

  • 2+ years of Minnesota family law experience
  • Strong client advocacy skills and the ability to balance strategy with empathy
  • A collaborative, team-oriented mindset and a commitment to ongoing growth

What We Offer

  • $10,000 hiring bonus
  • Fully remote flexibility with real work-life integration
  • Proven workflows and systems that support attorney success
  • Mentorship and professional development from day one
  • A culture grounded in accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement

If you're ready to do great work inside a firm that's structured, supportive, and purpose-driven, we'd love to connect.

Compensation:

$100,000+ annually including salary & performance-based incentives

Responsibilities:

What You'll Do

  • Manage a full caseload of family law matters from start to finish, from intake through resolution, ensuring deadlines are met and client needs are consistently addressed
  • Handle all phases of litigation and case development, preparing motions, affidavits, legal arguments, and trial materials that support strong, strategic outcomes
  • Represent clients in hearings, mediations, and ADR proceedings, advocating with professionalism and confidence in both formal and informal settings
  • Advise clients on strategy and next steps, providing practical, tailored guidance that empowers informed decisions
  • Maintain clear, proactive communication, keeping clients informed on case progress while managing communication with opposing counsel and other stakeholders
  • Collaborate with paralegals and legal staff to ensure thorough preparation and efficient case management
  • Conduct legal research and stay current on Minnesota family law, applying relevant statutes and case law while anticipating changes that may impact cases
  • Uphold the highest ethical and professional standards, protecting client confidentiality and maintaining integrity in all aspects of work
  • Keep cases organized and moving forward, using firm systems to track progress, manage tasks, and ensure matters advance efficiently

Qualifications:
  • Licensed and in good standing with the Minnesota Bar
  • 2+ years of family law experience, with familiarity in MN procedures
  • Detail oriented and dependable, backed by strong systems and paralegal support
  • Skilled in clear, professional communication with clients, courts, and colleagues
  • Able to manage multiple cases with structure and efficiency, while our team handles intake, billing, and admin
  • Comfortable using legal and case management technology, including Clio, MS Office, and Westlaw
  • Collaborative and open to feedback, working as a team rather than in silos
  • Committed to client experience, guiding clients with compassion and professionalism at every step
