Primary Job Requirements:

  • Act as first-chair trial counsel in complex litigation matters.
  • Lead strategy, case management, and litigation from investigation through resolution.
  • Work extensively with expert witnesses in preparing cases for trial.
  • Handle depositions, motion practice, hearings, mediations, and settlement negotiations.
  • Supervise and mentor associate attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants.
  • Collaborate with attorneys across practice groups on multi-disciplinary matters.
  • Travel as needed for client meetings, depositions, and trials.
  • Provide proactive and strategic legal counsel to clients, ensuring they are informed at every stage.

Key Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed and in good standing in Illinois or Wisconsin state and federal courts.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of tort and complex litigation experience, including proven first-chair trial work.
  • Extensive experience working with experts in litigation.
  • Strong legal writing, organization, and case management skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of work accurately and efficiently, under tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed billable hours and revenue expectations.
  • Consistent and reliable attendance.
  • Portable book of business is a plus but not required.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Base Salary: commensurate with experience
  • Discretionary Bonus Opportunity
  • Generous PTO and remote work flexibility
  • Estimated Billable Target ~ 1,650 hours

Full Benefits Package Includes:

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with employer contribution
  • Life, disability, and EAP coverage
  • Optional additional insurance benefits available

Additional Perks:

  • The firm offers a flexible work model; this role may be performed remotely, with hybrid in-office collaboration available for candidates located near a firm office.
  • Professional development and training opportunities to support career growth.
  • A reasonable billing requirement to allow time for client development and mentorship.
