Join our Edmonton HyCO facility as an Instrumentation & Electrical Technician (Dual Ticket) and play a critical role in maintaining safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations.

In this handson role, you will be responsible for the installation, inspection, troubleshooting, and maintenance of electrical, instrumentation, analytical, and control systems within a continuous petrochemical manufacturing environment.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this position is ideal for a certified dualticket technician who thrives in a safetydriven, highreliability operation and enjoys solving complex technical challenges across both electrical and instrumentation disciplines.

This is a 24/7 operating facility; flexibility to work overtime and participate in a rotating oncall schedule is required.

Key Responsibilities:

Electrical, Instrumentation & Control Maintenance

  • Install, inspect, maintain, and repair plant electrical, instrumentation, control, and analytical systems
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance
  • Troubleshoot and isolate faults using industrystandard diagnostic techniques and equipment
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, loop drawings, logic diagrams, and blueprints

Control Systems & Automation

  • Support and maintain PLC and DCS systems (Siemens experience considered a strong asset)
  • Assist with loop tuning, calibration, testing, and commissioning activities
  • Use HART / TREX communicators, multimeters, meggers, pneumatic calibrators, and related tools

Safety, Compliance & Team Collaboration

  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to EH&S, regulatory compliance, and safe work practices
  • Participate in safety meetings, hazard assessments, and incident investigations as required
  • Interface effectively with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, and external technical support teams
  • Provide technical support during turnarounds, outages, and plant upsets

Continuous Improvement & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and work orders using SAP
  • Contribute to plant reliability, asset integrity, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support training or technical assistance at other Canadian or U.S. facilities as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Dual Ticket Certification:
    • Journeyperson Instrumentation Technician and
    • Journeyperson Electrician (Red Seal required)
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's License with clean driving record
  • Ability and willingness to work oncall and overtime in a 24/7 operation

Preferred Experience & Skills

  • Industrial plant maintenance experience (petrochemical, chemical, oil & gas, power generation, or manufacturing environment preferred)
  • Experience with Siemens DCS/PLC systems or other distributed control systems
  • Strong understanding of PLC logic and industrial automation
  • Proven troubleshooting, fault isolation, and problemsolving capabilities
  • Proficiency using SAP PM, Microsoft Office, and industrial maintenance systems
  • Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary maintenance team
  • Demonstrated leadership, accountability, and safetyfocused mindset

Working Conditions

  • Continuous process manufacturing environment
  • Exposure to plant operating conditions requiring appropriate PPE
  • Occasional travel to other Canadian or U.S. sites for training or operational support

This role is designated as a safetysensitive position and requires successful completion of a preemployment drug and alcohol test and may be subject to ongoing testing in accordance with company policy and applicable law.
