Job Description

SOCOTEC has an opening for a Senior or Principal Geotechnical Engineer in Tucson, Arizona.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with marketing and business development.
  • Prepare geotechnical proposals, including scope of services and proposed fees.
  • Assist in the compilation of RFQ/RFP documentation.
  • Respond to technical questions for solicitations during pre-bidding and bidding phases of projects.
  • Prepare and manage/oversee geotechnical projects.
  • Prepare geotechnical evaluation reports.
  • Attend project meetings with project stakeholders as needed.
  • Maintain client relationships.
  • Work directly with clients to assure successful project completion.
  • Mentor junior staff.
  • Provide leadership.
  • Provide ongoing training to engineering staff.
  • Provide direction and review engineering work products prepared by others.
  • Keep up to date with the latest geotechnical survey, measurement, and analysis techniques, instrumentation, industry standards, and guidelines.
  • Review and sign geotechnical proposals and reports on behalf of the company.
    Qualifications

    Education

    • PE license required.
    • B.S. in Civil Engineering required; M.S. in Geotechnical Engineering or Civil Engineering with a geotechnical emphasis preferred.

    Required Skills

    • Licensed Professional Engineer in Arizona.
    • 10+ years of experience in the geotechnical industry performing the duties described above.
    • Well-rounded background in geotechnical engineering.
    • Strong work ethic.
    • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
    • Track record of successful client relationships and service.
    • Thorough understanding and knowledge of geotechnical engineering.
    • Experience with construction and earthwork activities.
    • Geophysical survey experience is an additional asset.
    • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work and meet deadlines under time pressure.
    • Positive attitude.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills.

    Additional Information

    Status: Full-time, in office or hybrid with one day remote, if approved by supervisor, per company policy.
