About the Role
MojoTech is looking for a contract-to-hire Principal AI Strategist to help clients move from AI ambition to production-ready, measurable business value. They will help lead workshops, AI Transformation and AI Product Strategy engagements from early opportunity framing through production delivery oversight, and participate in forward deployed AI innovation pods.
You will help lead MojoTech's AI Strategy operating model across client delivery, project team leadership, and internal AI enablement. This role exists because AI requires specialized leadership across opportunity selection, feasibility, model and architecture decisions, risk, cost, adoption, and production value. The role requires someone who is AI-native, has consulting experience, and able to guide both business and technical decisions, while also managing project teams.
 

What You'll Do

  • Lead Workshops, Forward Deployed AI Innovation pods, AI Strategy (Transformation and Product) engagements with clients.
  • Define where clients should invest in AI and why.
  • Lead AI opportunity framing, value hypotheses, prioritization, feasibility, and solution direction.
  • Guide client transformation by leading and shaping AI transformation and product vision, roadmap, investment business case, technical approach, and production path for clients.
  • Work with engineering and data teams to assess data readiness, architecture, integrations, model fit, cost, risk, and production implications.
  • Lead solution decisions across LLMs, RAG, embeddings, vector databases, retrieval quality, agents, orchestration, model selection, governance, human oversight, monitoring, and AI risk.
  • Support AI-first FDE and rapid prototyping workstreams by helping scope, validate, and translate proof-of-value work into production direction.
  • Lead project teams end to end on AI Strategy engagements, owning team structure, and delivery quality.
  • Drive business outcomes by carrying AI strategy into delivery, overseeing value alignment, roadmap execution, adoption, and production readiness.
  • Work alongside Product Managers for delivery of build projects following strategy engagements, as they support requirements gathering, backlog development, stakeholder coordination, and execution management.

What You'll Bring

  • AI degree or equivalent applied background, spanning technical and business-facing AI strategy
  • 10+ years total professional experience.
  • 3+ years in AI, data, digital product, automation, emerging technology strategy, or related work.
  • Experience leading client-facing strategy, transformation, or AI product strategy engagements.
  • Direct hands-on experience building, prototyping, evaluating, or shaping AI-enabled solutions.
  • Strong understanding of LLMs, prompt engineering, evaluation, RAG, embeddings, vector databases, retrieval quality, agentic workflows, AI governance, monitoring, and risk.
  • Ability to work with engineering on model selection, AI architecture, data readiness, integrations, token cost, compute cost, egress cost, security, and production tradeoffs.
  • Experience identifying AI opportunities within a product or operational workflow connecting them to commercial outcomes.
  • Experience developing financial business cases that model ROI, payback period, and total cost of ownership, and establishing FinOps guardrails
  • Experience leading and managing project teams, including team structure and delivery accountability.
  • Experience with two or more tools or platforms such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure AI Foundry, AWS Bedrock, Google Vertex AI/Gemini, Databricks, LangChain, LangGraph, Figma, Gemini, or workflow automation tools.
  • Strong executive communication, facilitation, synthesis, and consulting skills.
  • Product or project management experience at some point in your career.
  • Strong structured writing across memos, critique docs, and executive decks.

Flexible Working Environment

We offer a flexible working model that allows employees to choose between remote work, on-site work at our offices in Boulder, CO, and Providence, RI, or a hybrid arrangement. We also welcome candidates based in Phoenix, AZ as we continue to expand our presence in the area.

This position is remote but requires candidates to reside in one of the following states: RI, CO, AZ, CT, FL, MA, MD, ME, MO, NC, NH, NJ, NV, NY, OR, PA, SC, TN, or UT. Preference will be given to candidates within commuting distance of our offices in Boulder, CO, or Providence, RI.
