Remote Information Technology Management information

How does a remote information technology management role typically coordinate with on-site technical teams to address urgent issues?

Remote IT managers often rely on robust communication tools and established escalation procedures to collaborate with on-site teams when urgent issues arise. They schedule regular check-ins, maintain detailed documentation, and use project management platforms to track progress and assign tasks. Building strong relationships with on-site staff is key to ensuring that critical incidents are resolved quickly and efficiently, despite the physical distance. Additionally, remote IT managers may implement remote monitoring and management software to proactively detect and address problems before they escalate.

What is remote information technology management?

Remote information technology (IT) management refers to overseeing and supporting an organization's technology infrastructure, systems, and teams from a remote location rather than on-site. This role typically involves managing IT staff, coordinating projects, ensuring network security, and maintaining system performance—all using digital tools and communication platforms. Remote IT managers use cloud services, remote desktop software, and collaboration tools to effectively lead teams and resolve technical issues. This setup allows for flexibility in work location and can enable organizations to tap into a larger talent pool.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote information technology manager?

To thrive as a Remote Information Technology Manager, a strong background in IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, project management, and a relevant bachelor's degree are generally required. Familiarity with cloud platforms (like AWS or Azure), remote collaboration tools (such as Slack or Microsoft Teams), and certifications like PMP or CISSP are typically expected. Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills help manage distributed teams and drive projects to completion. These skills and qualities are crucial for ensuring secure, efficient IT operations and effective coordination across remote teams.

Job description

Vālenz® Health is the platform to simplify healthcare - the destination for employers, payers, providers and members to reduce costs, improve quality, and elevate the healthcare experience. The Valenz mindset and culture of innovation combine to create a distinctly different approach to an inefficient, uninspired health system. With fully integrated solutions, Valenz engages early and often to execute across the entire patient journey - from care navigation and management to payment integrity, plan performance and provider verification. With a 99% client retention rate, we elevate expectations to a new level of efficiency, effectiveness and transparency where smarter, better, faster healthcare is possible.
About This Opportunity:
As an Enterprise IT Tech, you'll provide remote IT support for staff and executives, ensuring a smooth and positive user experience. You'll troubleshoot hardware, software, and system issues; manage and escalate support tickets; and administer Microsoft 365, Intune, Teams Voice, and other cloud services. You'll also contribute to process improvements and documentation that strengthen IT efficiency and service delivery.
Things You'll Do Here:
  • Provide remote IT support for Vālenz staff and executives, delivering timely and effective solutions.
  • Monitor and resolve IT support requests through the internal ticketing system.
  • Escalate tickets to higher-level technicians and other teams as needed.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues with Office 365, encryption tools, endpoint management, and application access.
  • Support administration of Microsoft Intune, Microsoft 365, and Teams Voice.
  • Contribute to account management in systems such as EntraID, Active Directory, and other cloud services.
  • Install, configure, and repair computer hardware and software.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining IT documentation, SOPs, and end-user self-service resources.
  • Help migrate and update IT documentation into new platforms.
  • Collaborate with business units to ensure IT solutions meet needs and align with business objectives.
  • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to support critical after-hours IT issues. During your assigned week, you'll respond to urgent requests outside of normal business hours. Additional compensation is provided for on-call coverage.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential duties.
What You'll Bring to the Team:
  • 2+ years of experience in a support technician role, with both on-site and remote support responsibilities.
  • Experience providing IT support in a fast-paced, fully remote environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Active Directory and Office 365 administration.
  • Experience supporting and administering Five9.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and applications, as well as Apple iOS and Android.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical users and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
A plus if you have:
  • Knowledge of infrastructure components such as servers, storage systems, networks, and virtualization technologies.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure, Active Directory, and Microsoft Intune (MDM/RMM).
  • Experience with command-line tools.
  • Microsoft 365 Certification.
  • Experience in customer service or hospitality.

Where You'll Work: This is a fully remote position, and we'll provide all the necessary equipment!
  • Work Environment: You'll need a quiet workspace that is free from distractions.
  • Technology: Reliable internet connection-if you can use streaming services, you're good to go!
  • Security: Adherence to company security protocols, including the use of VPNs, secure passwords, and company-approved devices/software.
  • Location: You must be US based, in a location where you can work effectively and comply with company policies such as HIPAA.
