Summary:

The Progressive Stamping Manufacturing Engineering (PSME) supports stamping engineering operations through remote design, engineering coordination, quality documentation, and project collaboration activities. This position is responsible for designing die tool assemblies and related components, managing engineering tasks within Epicor, supporting manufacturing process documentation, and maintaining regular communication with internal teams and external partners. The role requires strong technical engineering knowledge, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently while maintaining consistent collaboration with onsite personnel and customers. This remote assignment is temporary and is expected to continue for approximately 18 months, based on current business and operational needs. The Company reserves the right to modify, discontinue, or transition the assignment at any time based on operational requirements, staffing needs, business conditions, or performance considerations. Nothing in this assignment alters the employee's at-will employment relationship.


Essential Job Functions:

Work a minimum of 40 hours per week according to an approved work schedule.
Follow all company policies and procedures related to attendance, timekeeping, breaks, and lunches in accordance with the employee handbook.
Submit daily progress and work status reports to designated leadership and engineering personnel.
Attend recurring customer and operational meetings as required. Participate in weekly Microsoft Teams meetings with the Stamping Team to review project status and work progress every Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. EST. and weekly "Roundtable" customer meetings every Thursday at 11:15 a.m. EST.
Schedule and coordinate additional conference calls as necessary to support project completion and issue resolution.
Maintain transparency by including appropriate team members on internal and external project communications.
Return to Sorenson Engineering quarterly for a minimum of three (3) consecutive business days to collaborate directly with the SEI team.
Design complete die tool assemblies and associated components in support of stamping operations.
Communicate promptly with the Stamping Team regarding project delays, technical issues, or schedule risks.
Request engineering consultation when project complexity exceeds current knowledge or experience levels.
Ensure all tool and component designs are reviewed and approved by the Stamping Team prior to manufacturing release.
Monitor Epicor and complete assigned Stamping Engineering tasks.
Coordinate with onsite engineering personnel regarding work assignments and project priorities.
Complete MCP and QCP documentation as assigned.
Submit engineering and process documentation to Stamping Engineering and/or MPE teams for review and approval.
Perform other related duties as assigned in support of manufacturing and engineering operations.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of manufacturing engineering, stamping processes, die tool design, and quality documentation procedures. Skilled in CAD design, engineering documentation, project coordination, problem-solving, and use of ERP systems such as Epicor. Ability to work independently in a remote environment while effectively communicating and collaborating with cross-functional engineering, manufacturing, and customer teams. Strong organizational, time management, and technical communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.


Education and Experience:

Associate degree or bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field preferred. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, stamping operations, tooling design, or related engineering functions preferred. Experience with die tool design and manufacturing support is required. Experience using ERP systems such as Epicor and prior experience working in a remote engineering or manufacturing support role are preferred.


Physical Demands:

Ability to perform work primarily in a remote office setting using standard computer and office equipment for extended periods of time. Requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and use hands and fingers for keyboard and computer operation. Must be able to visually review engineering drawings, specifications, and electronic documents and communicate effectively by phone, video conference, and email. Occasional travel to Sorenson Engineering manufacturing facilities may be required.


Work Environment:

This position operates primarily in a remote work environment with regular interaction and collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, and customer teams through Microsoft Teams, email, and other communication platforms. Quarterly onsite visits to Sorenson Engineering are required for a minimum of three (3) consecutive business days to support direct collaboration with the SEI team and operational activities. During onsite visits, the employee may be exposed to manufacturing and production environments, including moving machinery, moderate noise levels, and varying temperatures. The position may require flexibility in scheduling to support operational and customer meeting needs across multiple time zones.

In accordance with California law, the salary range for this position reflects a good faith estimate of the base compensation. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
