Job Title: Program Chair, Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Graduate Program
 
Location: Greater Boston Area / North Shore (Hybrid or Remote Eligible)
Compensation: $120,000.00 - $140,000.00 annual base salary

Position Overview
The Chair of the Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Program within our School of Nursing & Health Sciences reports directly to the Dean. The Chair is responsible for managing all operational and academic aspects of the graduate FNP Program. This includes supervising full- and part-time faculty, directing curriculum development, scheduling course offerings, managing program evaluations, and overseeing accreditation compliance.
The Chair serves as a critical mentor for faculty, acts as a primary interface between instructors and administration, and takes direct responsibility for student enrollment, academic progress, and student retention.
 
Work Environment: This role can be performed in a remote or hybrid capacity.
 
Key Responsibilities
Academic Advising & Student Progression (40%)
  • Provide dedicated academic advising and support to up to 30 graduate nursing students.
  • Guide students from admission through progression and successful completion of their degree.
  • Orient new advisees within two weeks prior to the start of their academic program.
  • Meet monthly with advisees to manage course enrollment and track academic progress.
  • Distribute academic success resources to students at the start of every course.
  • Partner monthly with the Dean to identify and coach students at risk of attrition or course failure.
  • Respond promptly to advisee inquiries via email or phone within 24 hours.
  • Collaborate with other graduate chairs to supervise students through the professional certification process, targeting an 80โ€“100% pass rate.
  • Maintain high student evaluation ratings for accurate, timely, and supportive advising.
School of Nursing Leadership & Service (30%)
  • Contribute to institutional growth through active service on school-wide and institutional committees.
  • Partner with the Associate Deans to execute ongoing assessment and continuous improvement metrics at the course, program, and school levels.
  • Participate actively in recruitment events, enrollment initiatives, and retention strategies for graduate nursing students.
  • Drive initiatives to sustain an 80% or higher student retention and graduation rate for the FNP program.
  • Support all institutional and program-specific accreditation efforts.
Graduate Program Teaching (10%)
  • Teach 2 courses per academic year at the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)/FNP or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) level.
  • Develop relevant course content and materials in compliance with departmental guidelines and institutional standards.
  • Implement diverse assessment tools and strategies across 100% of courses taught.
  • Maintain above-average or exemplary marks on student course evaluations.
Faculty Supervision, Training, and Evaluation (10%)
  • Assist the Dean in monitoring student tracking, onboarding new adjunct instructors, reviewing curriculum, and managing course enrollment numbers.
  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate part-time graduate nursing faculty.
  • Ensure 100% of digital learning management system (LMS) courses align with institutional design standards.
