A Remote Immigration Paralegal assists immigration attorneys with legal research, document preparation, client communication, and case management while working from a remote location. They help with visa applications, green cards, citizenship petitions, and other immigration matters. Strong knowledge of immigration laws, attention to detail, and proficiency with legal software are essential for this role.

What does a remote immigration paralegal do?

A typical day for a Remote Immigration Paralegal involves drafting and organizing petitions, gathering supporting documentation, tracking case deadlines, and conducting legal research. Most work is done independently from a home office, but frequent collaboration occurs through video calls, emails, and secure document-sharing platforms to coordinate with supervising attorneys and update clients on case progress. Paralegals also respond to client inquiries and ensure all case files are current and complete. This remote structure allows for flexibility but also requires strong self-motivation and proactive communication to ensure all team members and clients are aligned. Effective virtual teamwork is key to maintaining efficiency and quality in legal case management.

Exceptional attention to detail, initiative, time management, and the ability to communicate clearly, particularly in a virtual environment, are important soft skills. These competencies are essential for delivering timely, accurate legal support while successfully collaborating with attorneys and clients from a remote setting.

Are remote immigration paralegals in demand?

Remote immigration paralegals are in demand due to increasing immigration cases and the need for legal support. Employers value skills in legal research, document preparation, and familiarity with immigration laws, making remote roles a growing part of the legal support workforce.

Job description

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial Senior Immigration Paralegal to join our growing immigration law firm during a critical stage of expansion. This is a unique opportunity to help build a modern, client-focused immigration practice from the ground up.

As one of the firm's first legal professionals, you will play a key role in managing complex employment-based immigration matters, developing scalable processes, supporting client growth, and helping establish operational best practices. Beyond exceptional case management skills, the ideal candidate embraces a startup mindset: resourceful, adaptable, and excited to contribute to the development of a new and rapidly growing practice.

Key Responsibilities

Immigration Case Management

  • Manage a high-volume caseload of employment-based immigration matters from initiation through completion.
  • Prepare and file a wide range of nonimmigrant and immigrant petitions, including H-1B, L-1, TN, E-3, O-1, E-2, PERM, I-140, Adjustment of Status, EB-1, and National Interest Waiver matters.
  • Draft petitions, support letters, forms, exhibits, and government filings.
  • Coordinate directly with clients to gather supporting documentation and manage case timelines.
  • Monitor filing deadlines and proactively manage case progression.

Client Service & Relationship Management

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for corporate and individual clients.
  • Deliver exceptional client service through timely communication and proactive case updates.
  • Manage expectations regarding timelines, risks, and required documentation.
  • Build trusted relationships with HR contacts, foreign nationals, and business stakeholders.

Startup Operations & Process Development

  • Assist in developing case management workflows, templates, SOPs, and quality-control procedures.
  • Recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and scalability.
  • Help implement and optimize case management technology platforms.
  • Support reporting, tracking, billing coordination, and matter management.
  • Identify opportunities to automate repetitive administrative tasks.

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of all filings after attorney review.
  • Maintain compliance with USCIS, Department of Labor, and other government agency requirements.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and assist in implementing procedural updates.
  • Participate in internal audits and quality assurance initiatives.

Team Growth

  • Mentor junior paralegals, legal assistants, and administrative staff as the firm grows.
  • Assist with onboarding and training new team members.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for complex case questions.
  • Contribute to creating a collaborative, high-performance culture.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 7+ years of U.S. business immigration experience within a law firm, corporate immigration practice, or startup legal environment.
  • Extensive experience preparing employment-based immigration petitions.
  • Familiarity with legal technology and workflow automation tools (INSZoom).
  • Strong knowledge of USCIS, Department of Labor, and consular processes.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency with immigration case management systems (INSZoom) and Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting startup or rapidly growing legal practices.
  • Experience with O-1, EB-1, PERM, NIW, and complex RFE responses.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring junior legal staff.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Hourly Rate: $33.65-40.86 (depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors)
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance
  • 401(k) Retirement Plan with Company Match
  • Flexible Spending Accounts and Health Savings Account
  • Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, and Long-Term Disability Coverage
  • Company Paid Holidays and Paid Time Off
  • Paid Parental Leave
  • Pet Insurance
  • Travel Assistance Services
  • Legal and Identity Theft Protection Plans
  • Commuter Benefit Subsidy
  • Employee Recognition Programs
  • Referral Bonus Opportunities

Location:

  • Arizona / Houston, Texas - Hybrid or Remote
