How much do remote hydraulic system design engineer jobs pay per year?

As of Jul 11, 2026, the average yearly pay for remote hydraulic system design engineer in the United States is $118,589.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $100,000.00 and $137,000.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

How does a Remote Hydraulic System Design Engineer typically collaborate with on-site teams during the project lifecycle?

As a Remote Hydraulic System Design Engineer, collaboration with on-site teams is often achieved through regular video conferences, shared digital platforms for design reviews, and cloud-based project management tools. Clear and proactive communication is essential to address any real-time issues that may arise during installation or testing. Engineers frequently participate in virtual walkthroughs, provide technical documentation, and offer remote troubleshooting support to ensure seamless coordination between design and implementation teams. This collaborative approach helps maintain project timelines and quality standards despite geographical separation.

What does a Remote Hydraulic System Design Engineer do?

A Remote Hydraulic System Design Engineer is responsible for designing, analyzing, and optimizing hydraulic systems used in machinery and equipment, often working from a remote location. Their duties include creating technical drawings, selecting hydraulic components, performing simulations, and collaborating with other engineers and clients through digital communication tools. They ensure that hydraulic systems meet performance, safety, and efficiency standards, and may also provide troubleshooting support and documentation. Working remotely, they use specialized software to design and model systems, making it possible to contribute to projects without being on-site.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Hydraulic System Design Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Hydraulic System Design Engineer, you need a solid background in mechanical engineering, fluid dynamics, and hydraulic system design, typically supported by a relevant engineering degree and professional certification (e.g., PE or equivalent). Familiarity with CAD software (such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks), hydraulic simulation tools, and industry standards is essential. Strong problem-solving abilities, effective communication, and self-motivation are crucial soft skills for collaborating remotely and managing complex projects. These skills ensure the engineer can design efficient, reliable hydraulic systems while coordinating effectively with global teams and meeting client requirements.

What is the difference between Remote Hydraulic System Design Engineer vs Hydraulic Systems Technician?

AspectRemote Hydraulic System Design EngineerHydraulic Systems Technician
CredentialsBachelor's in Mechanical or Hydraulic Engineering, certifications like PE or FE often preferredTechnical diploma or associate degree in hydraulics or related field
Work EnvironmentDesign offices, remote collaboration, project planningField sites, maintenance facilities, on-site troubleshooting
Industry UsageDesigning hydraulic systems for machinery, vehicles, industrial equipmentInstalling, maintaining, repairing hydraulic systems
Search & Comparison IntentUnderstanding design roles, qualifications, remote work optionsTechnical skills, hands-on work, certifications

The Remote Hydraulic System Design Engineer focuses on designing hydraulic systems remotely, requiring engineering credentials and design expertise. In contrast, the Hydraulic Systems Technician handles installation and maintenance on-site, emphasizing technical skills and practical experience. Both roles are essential in hydraulic industry projects but differ in responsibilities, work environment, and qualifications.
