Colorado Legal Services (CLS) is Colorado's statewide nonprofit legal aid program, with twelve offices providing civil legal assistance to low-income Coloradans throughout the state. CLS provides free legal assistance in a broad variety of legal areas, including family law, public benefits, eviction defense, consumer protection, services to survivors of serious crime and human trafficking, and many others.

Position Summary:

Colorado Legal Services works with attorneys, students, and community members who volunteer their time to support the mission. We are seeking an intern to support the volunteer program with a variety of administrative projects, such as developing a volunteer handbook, posting position descriptions, preparing recognition activities, and more. The intern will gain valuable experience in a nonprofit setting and support the mission in a non-client-facing role. They will have opportunities to meet and network with staff and volunteers in the Denver office and participate in office-wide trainings and gatherings. The intern can expect to be busy and to complete real work from day one. This internship is perfect for someone exploring career paths with an interest in nonprofits and a desire to make an impact.

Essential Duties:

  • Write and review volunteer and intern position descriptions
  • Assist in developing a volunteer handbook
  • Support with recognition activities for Pro Bono Month in October
  • Assist with the organization of physical and digital files
  • Assist in intern program coordination tasks

Required Qualifications:

  • Interest in nonprofit and/or legal aid work
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and reliable
  • Ability to communicate clearly and empathetically

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Sharepoint and Canva is a plus


Location:

This position is located in the Denver office. There may be opportunities for remote work.

Time commitment:

Part-time, preference for 10-15 hours/week but we will work with the interns' schedule.

Compensation:

The position is unpaid but is open to receiving other work study funds that are student generated. Students may apply for course credit through their Externship Program.
