A Day in the Life

Our Senior Associate Environmental Professional (Environmental Consulting, Seller-Doer) role can be performed either hybrid out of Valley Forge, PA, Knoxville, TN, or fully remote.

This position supports Chemistry and Data Quality Solutions leadership with business development and our clients with environmental investigations and other environmental consulting activities.

The compensation range for this role is $120,000 - $150,000, commensurate with accomplishments, performance, credentials and geography

This role will be responsible for a full range of business development and project activities including:

Business Development and Client Engagement

  • Providing meaningful technical and marketing input to support the growth of the company's Chemistry and Data Quality Solutions practice.

  • Actively participating in business development (BD) and growth initiatives.

  • Identifying qualified leads and developing successful proposals to establish a book of work.

  • Attending client and business/industry meetings.

  • Attending and presenting at conferences.

  • Maintaining or exceeding billability goals with the balance of time dedicated to effective BD efforts.

Consulting and Project Contributions

  • Preparing technical memoranda, expert report sections, and presentation materials.

  • Participating in client discussions to explain analytical results, provide consulting, and interpretation of analytical data.

  • Supporting quality reviews of laboratory data, method summaries, and QA documentation.

  • Contributing to the preparation of project scopes, proposals, and cost estimates.

  • Preparing or critically reviewing environmental sampling plans, quality assurance project plans (QAPPs), and data management plans.

Professional Skills

  • Keeping up-to-date and current on industry trends by completing formal training, reviewing professional publications, and attending professional workshops.

  • Strong scientific writing and communication skills.

  • Ability to collaborate in a remote, fast-paced consulting environment.

  • High attention to detail and scientific defensibility.

  • Comfortable working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Other

  • Practice safe work practices by following all Company safety rules and OSHA regulations, including attendance at all required safety training programs.

  • Participating in continuous improvement programs and providing support to team efforts.

  • The position may require travel and an occasional overnight stay.

  • Travel to offices, project sites, and project meetings on an as-needed basis.

Required Education

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Environmental Science, or a closely related field.

  • Advanced degree preferred.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of environmental consulting experience, including Project Management and proven client development experience.

Required Skills

  • Expertise in one or more of the following:

    • Environmental investigation or remediation project management.

    • Analytical chemistry principles and application to environmental data review.

    • Interpretation and data usability assessment and US EPA data validation guidelines.

    • Wastewater or solid waste regulatory requirements.

    • Requirements for Sampling Analysis Plans, Quality Assurance Project Plans, or similar project control documents.

  • Demonstrated success identifying, pursuing, and winning environmental consulting opportunities.

  • Proven ability to develop and execute strategic account plans that grow revenue within existing and new client accounts.

  • Strong consulting sales acumen, with the ability to understand client business drivers and translate them into technical solutions.

  • Ability to balance utilization with business development responsibilities.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to develop and deliver strong presentations relevant to market interests at industry conferences.

  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite. Capable of performing tasks such as creating spreadsheets; composing correspondence; and creating reports and documents using Microsoft Office software.

  • Strong knowledge of Adobe Acrobat.
