Overview
RISE Foundation is seeking a visionary Founding Fractional Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) to establish and lead the organization's people strategy during an exciting period of growth.
As a founding executive, you will build the HR function from the ground up, creating the policies, systems, and culture that will support a high-performing national nonprofit. During the startup phase, this role requires approximately 3–10 hours per week with the expectation of transitioning into a full-time executive leadership position as organizational growth and funding milestones are achieved.
Position Summary
Reporting directly to the Founder & Chairman of the Board, the Founding Fractional CHRO serves as the senior executive responsible for all aspects of human resources, talent strategy, organizational development, and employee experience.
The CHRO will develop the Foundation's HR infrastructure, advise executive leadership on workforce strategy, and help create a culture that attracts, develops, and retains exceptional employees and volunteers.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the Foundation's human resources strategy.
- Design and implement HR policies, employee handbooks, and organizational procedures.
- Lead executive recruitment, workforce planning, and succession planning.
- Develop compensation, performance management, and recognition programs.
- Establish talent acquisition, onboarding, and employee engagement strategies.
- Advise executive leadership on employment law, compliance, and HR best practices.
- Build organizational culture and leadership development initiatives.
- Oversee employee relations, conflict resolution, and performance improvement processes.
- Develop diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging initiatives.
- Partner with executive leadership on organizational growth and change management.
- Support Board committees on executive compensation, governance, and talent strategy as needed.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, or a related field.
- Five or more years of progressive HR leadership experience.
- Experience building or leading human resources functions.
- Strong knowledge of employment law, HR compliance, employee relations, and organizational development.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills.
Preferred
- Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field.
- SHRM-SCP, SHRM-CP, SPHR, PHR, or comparable HR certification.
- Experience in nonprofit, healthcare, education, or mission-driven organizations.
- Experience scaling organizations through periods of growth.
Compensation
During the startup phase, this is a fractional executive leadership position requiring approximately 3–10 hours per week with a flexible schedule.
As RISE Foundation expands and organizational funding milestones are achieved, this position is expected to transition into a full-time paid executive leadership role with an anticipated salary of $130,000–$145,000 annually, based on qualifications, experience, organizational needs, and Board approval.
