The Department of Corrections is currently recruiting to fill an Institution Unit Supervisor position, located at Taycheedah Correctional Institution in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.
Position Summary
This position is responsible for the security, treatment and general living conditions of all Persons in our Care (PIOC) assigned to three medium security, general population housing units. The Institution Unit Supervisor is an administrator responsible for all activities within the unit, including the coordination of all disciplines to address and monitor PIOC activities and well-being, supervision and direction of assigned unit staff, facilitation and evaluation of unit-based work assignments and treatment programs, monitoring, developing and maintain physical plant, and managing the daily unit-based services provided to PIOCs. Furthermore, each unit supervisor is responsible for development and maintenance of a specific institution-wide program and the supervision and direction of the involved and affected staff. The Institution Unit Supervisor is an administrator who is tasked with the development, implementation and monitoring of overall institution goals, policies and procedures as part of the institution management team and the ability to respond and perform in the role of Warden's designee as required.
Salary Information
This position is in pay schedule and range 81-34 with a starting pay of $49.30/hour - $57.12/hour, plus excellent benefits. Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. A probationary period is required.

Job Details
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.
The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.
The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.
This position is not eligible for remote work.
Qualifications
Minimally qualified applicants will have experience:
- Implementing and evaluating security standards within a unit
- Performing supervision or lead worker related activities, (e.g. assigning, directing, and evaluating work; disciplinary matters, providing training and mentoring).
- Managing operating procedures of a work unit
In addition to the above, well qualified applicants will have experience:
- Participating in multi-disciplinary teams, committees, or work groups
- Developing and managing a unit budget and preparing budget requests
