Job description

About AnswerLab

AnswerLab helps pioneering leaders Own the Unknown, transforming uncharted territory into clarity, direction, and competitive advantage. We build strategic insight through deep human understanding and validating future possibilities with real people in real contexts. We believe that the future of experience strategy relies on continuous learning and cross-functional expertise, enabling us to guide clients through unprecedented challenges across every phase of the product lifecycle.

About the Role

As an Experience Design Lead, you will translate research insights and strategic direction into tangible, experience concepts and prototypes. Working closely with strategists and researchers, you'll develop solutions that help the world's most innovative companies bring better products and services to life.

You'll support the development of journey maps, service blueprints, product ideas, and strategic narratives; and be responsible for the creation of interaction concepts, prototypes, and design solutions that bring strategy to life. In this role, your work will help bridge insight and implementation, turning human understanding into practical experience solutions that organizations can test, validate, and build.

This is a collaborative role in a startup-paced environment where new processes are constantly being developed, tools are being tested, and teams work collaboratively across disciplines. You'll work on client engagements from research through design delivery while helping shape the tools, artifacts, and design approaches that define AnswerLab's experience design practice.

Key Responsibilities

Design Human-Centered Experiences

  • Translate research insights and strategic direction into experience concepts and design solutions
  • Develop design prototypes and visual concepts to explore and communicate ideas
  • Help bring complex service ecosystems and customer journeys to life through clear, compelling visualizations

Support Client Engagements

  • Contribute to the strategic and design deliverables on client projects from concept development through delivery
  • Prepare client-ready deliverables that communicate ideas clearly and effectively
  • Participate in presentations, workshops, and collaborative design sessions with clients and project teams
  • Ensure design outputs align with project goals, research insights, and business context

Collaborate Across Disciplines

  • Partner with researchers, strategists, product teams, and client stakeholders to develop integrated solutions
  • Participate in design workshops, co-creation sessions, and ideation activities
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure experiences are feasible, scalable, and aligned with user needs

Contribute to the Design Practice

  • Support the development of templates, tools, and frameworks that strengthen AnswerLab's experience strategy capabilities
  • Stay informed about emerging design tools, technologies, and methods
  • Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and practice development

Required Skills & Experience

  • 7-10 years of experience in experience design, service design, UX design, or product design within consulting, agency, or product environments
  • Strong ability to translate insights and strategy into clear experience concepts and visual artifacts
  • Experience creating journey maps, service blueprints, ecosystem maps, or similar experience design deliverables
  • Mastery of manual design and prototyping tools like Figma
  • Experience with prompt-based design tools
  • Strong storytelling and communication skills, both visual and verbal
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including researchers, strategists, and product leaders

Nice to Have

  • Experience with research - running usability tests, concept tests, and qualitative studies
  • Experience with large-scale, complex design systems
  • Experience supporting workshops with client stakeholders
  • Experience developing strategic vision for major brands

Why AnswerLab?

This is an opportunity for a strategic designer who wants to help shape how organizations create meaningful products and services for their customers and users. You will work closely with experienced strategists, researchers, and leaders to transform human insights into tangible solutions that organizations can test and implement. In a collaborative and fast-evolving environment, you'll continue developing your design craft while contributing to impactful work across a range of industries and complex experience challenges.

Work Model & Travel

  • Fully remote, with up to 25% travel for client workshops, co-creation sessions, and team collaboration
  • Comfortable collaborating virtually across geographies and disciplines

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time
  • Occasional extended hours may be required to meet project deadlines
  • Willingness to collaborate across multiple time zones, which may occasionally require schedule flexibility

Why AnswerLab?

This is an opportunity for a strategist who is excited to grow their craft while contributing to meaningful client-facing experience strategy. You'll collaborate with a talented cross-functional team, engage with complex challenges across industries, and help translate human insights into actionable strategies that shape real products and services. Working closely with experienced leaders and practitioners, you'll continue developing your skills while making a tangible impact on how organizations design better experiences.
