Job description

Receptionist for Scylla AG

Founded in Switzerland in 1973, Scylla has been setting the standard in premium river cruising for more than 50 years. Today, the company operates more than 40 modern river ships, sailing along the Rhine, Danube, Seine, Rhône, Saône, and many other beautiful rivers across Europe.

As the first point of contact for our guests, the Receptionist creates a welcoming and seamless experience. You manage reception operations, provide personalized guest support, and oversee onboard shop services to ensure satisfaction and memorable experiences.

Conditions:

  • Seasonal work with contracts from March to November renewable each season
  • River ships are located in Europe - closer to home
  • No Safety certificates or Seaman's book required
  • Possibility to take paid days off and vacation during the season

  • Shore leave almost every day
  • There are always more openings for German speakers
  • Some vessels offer free German language courses on board
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Adhering the guidelines and SOP's for the Reception area.
  • Professional guest service according to Scylla standards.
  • Greet, welcome and direct guests and visitors in-person and on the phone.
  • Check in / check out and out the guests.
  • Answering and transferring phone calls.
  • Forwarding relevant guest information to the respective department.
  • Sales of shop articles, partially with cash payments.
  • Printing and coding of cabin door keys.
  • Register passport and address details of guests and crew members in the POS BackOffice system
  • Write the daily menu properly, in cooperation with the Executive Chef and Hotel Manager.
  • Responsible for taking orders during Welcome, Gala and Farewell dinner
  • Assistance during the payments.
  • Take and carry out wake up calls, special requests of the guests and any other updates.
  • Responsible to post the mail.
  • Assistance with preparation of inventories and orders.
  • Handling of excursions and possible accompany of the excursions if necessary.
  • Provide internet access and support where necessary.
Requirements:
  • Experienced within the hotel industry and/or previous (river) cruise ship experience.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills with the friendly and positive attitude.
  • Outstanding verbal communication, listening and telephone skills.
  • Stress resistant, calm under pressure, resilient, team player and with positive approach.
  • Open minded and flexible with high social, interpersonal and cultural competencies.
  • Problem-solving skills and dependability.
  • Attention to detail with strong customer service skills.
  • Excellent English skills (written & verbal), other languages as German are an advantage.
  • Technology skills with excellent computer skills (Excel, Word, PPT).
  • Being representative of Scylla’s values.
  • Age: min. 18 years old
  • Non-EU nationals will need D type German visa before joining
