Job Description:

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing critical accounting operations and ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of accounting processes in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, corporate policies, and internal control requirements. This role provides leadership across key functional accounting areas, including but not limited to cash, intercompany, accounts payable, amongst others, while supporting process standardization, operational excellence, and automation initiatives.

The ideal candidate will possess strong understanding of an end-to-end accounting cycle, technical accounting knowledge, sound judgment, and demonstrated experience managing accounting processes in a complex business environment. This individual will also be expected to partner effectively across finance, operations, procurement, and other cross-functional teams to support compliance, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage and oversee the end-to-end accounting cycle, including journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
  • Lead multiple accounting activities across different areas such as Cash, Accounts Payables, Intercompany, Fixed Assets, Leases, Payroll, among others.
  • Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, schedules, and other supporting documentation to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Maintain a strong internal control environment across assigned accounting processes and ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies and GAAP.
  • Support internal and external audit activities by preparing schedules, providing requested documentation, and responding to inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Analyze account activity, identify variances or unusual trends, and drive timely resolution of accounting issues.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement, standardization, and automation across accounting operations, including accounts payable and close-related activities.
  • Support system enhancements, process redesign, and technology initiatives that improve efficiency, transparency, and control within the accounting function.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff, promoting accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, FP&A, Procurement, Tax, Operations, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and operational effectiveness.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to senior management and executive leadership on technical accounting matters, financial reporting implications, and policy updates.
  • Provide timely accounting updates and recommendations to leadership regarding new pronouncements, significant transactions, and emerging accounting issues.
  • Act as a technical accounting resource for management by interpreting applicable guidance and advising on appropriate accounting treatment.
  • Participate in special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Strong experience in the full accounting cycle, period end and quarter-end closing activities, and financial statements reporting requirements.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of GAAP, accrual-based accounting, and internal control principles.
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems such as Oracle PeopleSoft and Costpoint; SAP experience is a plus.
  • Experience with automation initiatives, process optimization, or systems improvements within accounting operations.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally across all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and operate effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • CPA, CFA, CPP or CMA designation is a plus
  • Master's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred or considered a plus.
  • Experience in Fixed Assets and Lease Accounting, and Capital Management.
  • Prior experience leading teams or managing accounting personnel.
  • Experience in a complex, multi-entity, or regulated business environment.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and financial systems.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C, Denver, or NYC areas is $100,500-$186,500. The salary range for this role in Colorado state, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York state, and Vermont is $87,500-$162,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements.ย
