Position Description

Valiant Solutions is seeking a Business Analyst to support our agile software development practice supporting an environmentally focused Federal Government client.

The agency's programs aim to promote environmental sustainability and protect the natural resources of our planet. As part of this contract, we will be supporting the agency's efforts to develop and maintain information systems that facilitate the tracking and reporting of environmental data. Our team will work closely with the agency to ensure that the information systems are secure, compliant with accessibility standards, and support the agency's business processes.

As a Business Analyst, the role will involve working closely with the project team to gather and analyze business requirements, translate them into functional specifications, and ensure that they align with the project goals and objectives. The business analyst will be responsible for identifying potential areas of improvement in business processes, and work with stakeholders to identify solutions and improvements. The Business Analyst will also collaborate with the development team to ensure that the system's user interface and user experience meet the needs of stakeholders. They will assist in designing intuitive and user-friendly interfaces and participate in user acceptance testing to verify that the system meets the functional and non-functional requirements. The business analyst will assist in the development and implementation of new information systems, including conducting user acceptance testing and coordinating with developers to ensure that business requirements are met. The business analyst will also support the project manager in tracking and managing project timelines and deliverables, and will communicate progress and issues to stakeholders on a regular basis.

Required Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with business analysis methodologies, tools, and techniques.
  • Experience with Agile and Waterfall project methodologies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with process mapping and modeling tools such as Visio or JIRA is preferred.
  • Understanding of environmental regulations and sustainability practices is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field is preferred, but not required

 

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze business processes, systems, and data to identify areas of improvement and recommend solutions.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, document processes, and help develop project plans.
  • Develop business cases and feasibility studies to support new initiatives and process improvements.
  • Develop detailed business requirements documents and functional specifications.
  • Collaborate with developers and project managers to ensure solutions meet business needs and are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, status reports, and other project-related documentation.
  • Conduct user acceptance testing to ensure solutions meet business requirements.
  • Facilitate meetings and workshops with stakeholders to gather requirements and resolve issues.
  • Develop training materials and provide training to end-users as needed.

  • Requirements elicitation and documentation techniques such as interviews, surveys, focus groups, use case scenarios, user stories, and requirements workshops.
  • Business process modeling and mapping tools such as Visio, Lucidchart, and BPMN notation.
  • Data modeling and analysis techniques such as entity-relationship diagrams and data flow diagrams.
  • Agile development methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.
  • Project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Trello, or Asana.
  • Collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams, Slack, or JIRA.
  • Business intelligence and reporting tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Cognos.
  • Basic technical knowledge and understanding of software development and database technologies.

The salary range for this position is a general guideline and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. It has been benchmarked in relation to the scope of the role, market rate, and internal equity. The salary for this role is expected to be in the $65,000 - $80,000 range. Where a candidate falls within the band can be determined based on one or more of the following: skillset, experience level, achievements, education, geographic location, security clearance, involvement in corporate tasks, and other non-discriminatory factors. In addition to the base salary, this role will include benefits as described above.  Valiant reserves the right to adjust the salary range, experience requirements, and position responsibilities at any time without prior notice.
