Remote Help Desk Analyst information

What is a remote help desk analyst?

A Remote Help Desk Analyst is an IT professional who provides technical support and troubleshooting services to users, typically over the phone, email, or through remote access software. They assist with issues related to computer hardware, software, networks, and other technology systems. Working remotely, they diagnose problems, guide users through solutions, and may escalate complex issues to higher-level support. Their goal is to ensure users can effectively use their technology and minimize downtime. This role is essential for organizations with distributed teams or remote employees.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote help desk analyst, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Help Desk Analyst, you need solid troubleshooting abilities, knowledge of operating systems and networks, and typically an associate’s degree in IT or a related field. Familiarity with ticketing systems like ServiceNow or Zendesk, remote desktop tools, and certifications such as CompTIA A+ are highly valued. Strong communication, patience, and problem-solving skills help analysts effectively assist users and de-escalate technical frustrations. These competencies ensure quick resolution of technical issues and a positive user experience, which are crucial for organizational productivity and customer satisfaction.

What are some common challenges faced by remote help desk analysts, and how can they overcome them?

Remote Help Desk Analysts often encounter challenges such as troubleshooting complex technical issues without physical access to the user's device, managing high ticket volumes, and maintaining effective communication with users from diverse technical backgrounds. To overcome these obstacles, analysts rely on strong problem-solving skills, remote diagnostic tools, and clear, empathetic communication. Building a knowledge base and collaborating closely with team members through chat or video calls can also help resolve issues more efficiently and improve user satisfaction.

Location: Remote – Canada
Employment: Permanent, Full-Time

TalentLab is working with a Canadian financial services organization to hire an experienced Business Systems Analyst with deep, hands-on Unitrax expertise.

This is not a traditional requirements-focused BA role. We're looking for someone who understands how Unitrax works at a systems level and has experience configuring and supporting the platform, particularly around fund setup and Unitrax modules. The successful candidate will work between business and technical teams to translate business needs into practical system solutions.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Implement and configure funds and modules within the Unitrax platform.

  • Provide hands-on Unitrax systems expertise to support new functionality and platform enhancements.

  • Gather, analyze and translate business requirements into functional and system requirements.

  • Work with business stakeholders and technical teams to understand how changes impact Unitrax and related processes.

  • Support process analysis, system enhancements and business change initiatives.

  • Partner with QA and subject matter experts on testing and UAT.

  • Troubleshoot issues and help identify the underlying business or system requirement.

  • Provide guidance and Unitrax knowledge to other members of the team.

What We're Looking For
  • Hands-on Unitrax experience is essential.

  • Experience with fund setup, Unitrax modules and platform configuration.

  • Strong understanding of Unitrax from both a business and systems perspective.

  • 5+ years of Business Systems Analysis and/or financial services experience.

  • Experience gathering requirements, analyzing processes and supporting system implementations or enhancements.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work effectively with both business and technical stakeholders.

Nice to Have
  • AS/400 experience.

  • Experience working with Unitrax backend tables and data structures.

  • Investment, wealth management or insurance industry experience.

  • Segregated funds experience.

This is a particularly strong opportunity for someone who has become a go-to Unitrax resource within their organization and enjoys working close to the platform while still operating as a Business Systems Analyst.
