Job description

About Community Science:
Want to use research, data, strategy, and community engagement to help build healthier, more just, and equitable communities? So do we.
Community Science is a national consulting firm that partners with foundations, nonprofits, government agencies, and community organizations to help build healthy, just, and equitable communities. We partner with clients to use research, evaluation, strategy, organizational effectiveness, capacity building, and community engagement to understand complex challenges, strengthen systems, and co-create practical solutions that help clients understand what's happening, why it matters, and what to do next.
Our work spans topics like youth engagement, health equity, economic and community development, systems change, philanthropy, and organizational effectiveness and capacity building. Every project starts with listening. We work alongside clients, communities, and stakeholders to understand complex challenges and co-create practical solutions that lead to meaningful change.
We're a fully remote team of curious, collaborative consultants who care deeply about quality, continuous learning, and making a meaningful difference. We ask thoughtful questions, challenge assumptions, learn from one another, and believe great consulting is as much about relationships and judgment as it is about research and data.
If you're looking for a place where you'll continue learning, contribute to meaningful work, and help clients create lasting change, we'd love to meet you.
Community Science is a wholly owned subsidiary of BCT Partners. Together, we combine Community Science's expertise in research, evaluation, and community engagement with BCT Partners' broader national consulting capabilities to help clients create meaningful change.
To learn more about our parent company, refer to the “About BCT Partners” section at the bottom of this job posting.
About the Role:
Are you someone who loves asking questions, connecting dots, and using research to help solve real-world challenges? If so, you'll feel right at home at Community Science.
As an Analyst, you'll work alongside experienced consultants to help clients understand complex challenges and turn research and evidence into practical solutions. You'll contribute to projects from start to finish, collecting and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data, conducting interviews and focus groups, synthesizing findings, developing reports and presentations, and helping teams translate evidence into strategies that strengthen organizations, systems, and communities.
You'll collaborate across multiple projects and subject areas while continuing to strengthen your consulting, research, and project management skills. Every project is different, giving you opportunities to learn, take on increasing responsibility, and work alongside colleagues who care deeply about quality, collaboration, and helping one another grow.
You'll likely enjoy this role if you like variety, are energized by meaningful work, can balance multiple priorities, and like working with others to turn research and data into practical solutions for communities.
How You Contribute to the Team:
Research, Evaluation, and Capacity Building
  • Support the design and implementation of qualitative and quantitative data collection efforts, including surveys, interview guides, focus groups, databases, and other research tools.
  • Collect, organize, manage, and analyze qualitative and quantitative data from interviews, focus groups, surveys, document reviews, and other sources.
  • Independently conduct interviews and focus groups (virtual and in person), as appropriate based on project complexity and client needs.
  • Conduct literature reviews and background research to strengthen project findings and provide context for client work.
  • Contribute to generating findings and insights through qualitative and quantitative analysis using tools such as Excel, R, SPSS, or other research software.
  • Support the delivery of technical assistance, training, and capacity-building activities with clients and partners.
Analysis, Writing & Presentations
  • Contribute to interpreting and synthesizing qualitative and quantitative findings.
  • Draft sections of reports, memos, proposals, and other client deliverables.
  • Prepare presentations and technical documents tailored to different audiences.
  • Develop charts, tables, infographics, and other visuals that communicate findings clearly and effectively.
  • Support presentations and discussions of findings with clients and project teams, as appropriate.
Project Support & Team Collaboration
  • Coordinate tasks and timelines across multiple projects while helping keep work organized and moving forward.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across practice areas to deliver high-quality work for clients.
  • Participate in project meetings and contribute ideas, questions, and solutions.
  • Communicate proactively with project teams about progress, questions, and emerging needs.
  • Take ownership of your work while knowing when to seek guidance and collaborate with others.
Proposal Support
  • Contribute to proposal development by coordinating tasks, preparing materials, writing sections, and helping produce high-quality submissions.
Internal Contributions & Professional Development
  • Maintain 85% utilization target on project-related work.
  • Participate in approved professional development activities  that contribute to internal organizational and practice area, non-client initiatives.
What We’re Looking For:
As no individual candidate meets every qualification, we encourage candidates who meet most of these requirements to apply!
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualifications listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in public health, public policy, sociology, psychology, education, social work, or a related social science field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Three or more years of professional experience in research, evaluation, consulting, community engagement, capacity building, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting multiple projects simultaneously while balancing competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience collecting, organizing, managing, and analyzing qualitative and/or quantitative data.
  • Experience conducting interviews, focus groups, surveys, or other qualitative and quantitative research activities.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor information for different audiences.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with careful attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with qualitative and/or quantitative analysis software (e.g., Excel, SPSS, R, NVivo, Dedoose, or similar).
How You Work
  • Comfortable balancing multiple projects in a collaborative, fast-paced consulting environment.
  • Able to work independently while proactively communicating progress, questions, and emerging needs.
  • Curious, adaptable, and eager to learn.
  • Committed to producing high-quality work and continuously improving your skills.
Passion for the Work
  • A commitment to advancing healthy, just, and equitable communities.
  • An interest in using research, evaluation, and community engagement to help clients solve complex challenges.
There are multiple factors considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align with the specified role, geographic location, education as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
Community Science offers a competitive total compensation package that, for this position, includes a base salary between $80,000 and $85,000 along with a generous benefits package. BCT Community Science’s benefits include partially subsidized medical, dental and vision coverage, fully vested 401k plan with company match, company paid life and disability insurance plans, paid family leave, and a generous paid time off policy.
This is a remote position located in any of the fifty United States or Washington, DC. Though we do have staff in multiple time zones, Community Science’s headquarters is located on the East Coast in Maryland.  We support and encourage a strong staff community, leveraging virtual communication tools and collaborative work practices.
