The Licensed Mental Health Counselor will fulfill a variety of essential functions to promote recovery and well-being among clients. Key responsibilities include:

• Assess client needs and develop tailored treatment plans addressing issues such as low self-esteem, family conflict, addiction, and crisis management.
• Monitor client progress through accurate documentation and data analysis to adapt treatment strategies accordingly.
• Collaborate with clients’ family members, when appropriate, to support effective behavioral changes and treatment responses.
• Provide immediate crisis intervention as necessary, effectively navigating high-stress situations with clients.
• Deliver services via telehealth, employing best practices in remote counseling while ensuring client privacy in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Participate actively in interdisciplinary meetings to share insights and enhance collaborative care strategies.
• Engage in ongoing professional development through training, conferences, and seminars to remain current with industry standards and improve personal competencies.
• Maintain active licensure and complete all required training as mandated by Life Care and DBH standards.
• Supervise and mentor junior therapists and interns, fostering a positive learning environment and adherence to best practices.
• Provide case management, resource linkage, and advocacy services to clients.

This role encompasses work with a diverse client population, including individuals from varying socioeconomic backgrounds, ethnicities, and cultures. The counselor will be sensitive to the unique challenges and needs of each client, ensuring a respectful and individualized approach to care.

• A Master's Degree in a human services-related field is required.
• Current licensure in the District of Columbia as an LPC, LICSW, or LMFT.
• Exceptional communication and active listening skills, with attention to detail in both verbal and written formats.
• Competence in using Electronic Health Records (EHR) for documentation and management of client information.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, demonstrating resilience and proficient stress management.

• Experience working with clients facing substance abuse issues and mental health disorders.
• Familiarity with telehealth service delivery models.
• Previous involvement in training, supervision, or mentorship of junior staff or interns.
