What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote growth designer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Growth Designer, you need a strong background in UX/UI design, product strategy, and data-driven decision making, often supported by a relevant degree or portfolio of growth-focused projects. Proficiency with design tools like Figma or Sketch, analytics platforms such as Google Analytics or Mixpanel, and A/B testing software is typically required. Exceptional communication, collaboration, and self-motivation are crucial soft skills for remote work and cross-functional teamwork. These skills and qualities drive user engagement, optimize product experiences, and ensure effective collaboration in a remote, fast-paced environment.

What is a remote growth designer?

A Remote Growth Designer is a creative professional who focuses on designing and optimizing digital products or marketing assets to drive user acquisition, engagement, and retention, while working remotely. They combine skills in user experience (UX), visual design, and data analysis to create solutions that support business growth objectives. Remote Growth Designers work closely with marketing, product, and development teams, leveraging A/B testing, user feedback, and analytics to continuously improve design effectiveness. Their role is crucial in helping organizations expand their customer base and enhance user satisfaction from a distance.

The designer contributes by creating and testing UI/UX solutions, analyzing user feedback, and iterating designs based on performance data. Effective communication and adaptability are key, as the remote setup requires proactive coordination across different time zones and disciplines.

As a Product Designer at Thunkable, you’ll solve complex problems - spanning the product, engineering and marketing organizations and be responsible for the features and projects you bring to life. You will work closely with our engineering team  to define features as well as with our marketing team to support growth efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design intuitive user flows and interaction patterns while contributing to and evolving our design system.

  • Create polished, high-quality interfaces with strong attention to usability, accessibility, visual clarity, and consistency.

  • Partner closely with Product and Engineering to transform sophisticated technical systems into simple and elegant user experiences.

  • Prototype and iterate quickly, balancing speed with craft in a fast-moving startup environment.

  • Present and communicate design decisions clearly, connecting user experience choices to broader product strategy and business goals.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product, data, and marketing teams to bring ideas from concept to launch.

  • Help improve overall product consistency, interaction quality, and design standards across the platform.

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in product design, with strong foundations in UX research, information architecture, interaction design, and visual design.

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating thoughtful product thinking, polished visual execution, and end-to-end product design work.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write clear, concise, conversion-oriented product copy.

  • Familiarity with no-code or low-code development platforms is highly preferred.

Nice to Have

  • Experience using modern AI-powered design and creative tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, AI-assisted prototyping tools, or emerging AI-native design workflows to accelerate ideation, prototyping, content generation, and product iteration.

  • Experience designing AI-native or generative AI products.
