What does a remote graphic designer do?

Remote graphic designers do the same job as regular graphic designers; they create visual concepts to communicate a message that informs, inspires, or captivates customers. But instead of working in the office, remote graphic designers work from home or a different location of their choice that has a wi-fi connection. Remote graphic designers help organizations form their brand and express a particular identity or idea for promotional and advertising material. They are skilled in the manipulation of colors, shapes, fonts, images, photography, print design, logos, and animation, and may use computer software or draw by hand. Additionally, they collaborate with multimedia animators, artists, and other creative types to bring visual concepts to life. Examples of their work include layout and design for brochures, corporate reports, magazines, advertisements, and billboards. Some remote graphic designer positions require the employee to come into the office sometimes, while other jobs are entirely remote.

What is a remote graphic designer?

Remote graphic designers are creative professionals who use digital tools to create visual content such as logos, advertisements, websites, and social media graphics while working from a location outside of a traditional office, typically from home. They collaborate with clients and teams online, using communication platforms and file-sharing services to deliver design projects. This role requires strong design skills, proficiency with graphic software, and excellent time management to meet deadlines independently.

How does a remote graphic designer typically collaborate with clients and team members?

As a remote graphic designer, collaboration is primarily managed through digital tools such as project management platforms, video conferencing, and file-sharing services. You’ll regularly communicate with clients to gather feedback, clarify project requirements, and present design concepts. Team collaboration often involves attending virtual meetings, sharing progress updates, and working closely with copywriters, marketers, and developers to ensure cohesive project outcomes. Clear communication and proactive organization are essential for managing deadlines and maintaining strong working relationships in a remote environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote graphic designer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Graphic Designer, you need strong visual design skills, proficiency in color theory and typography, and a portfolio showcasing creative work, often supported by a degree or certification in graphic design. Familiarity with industry-standard tools like Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and collaborative platforms such as Figma or Sketch is essential. Excellent communication, time management, and self-motivation are vital soft skills for effectively collaborating with clients and teams remotely. These skills ensure the delivery of high-quality, impactful designs while meeting deadlines and client expectations in a remote work environment.

Devoted Studios

Full-time

Job description

Devoted Studios is a globally remote development company specializing in Co-development, Porting, and End-to-End Art Production for the global gaming industry.

We collaborate across time zones to support projects on all major platforms, engines and styles - from AAA titles to emerging technologies. Our team includes world-class talents who bring deep expertise in external development, pipeline optimization, and creative problem-solving. Whether it's porting games to new systems, enhancing gameplay features, or crafting stunning visuals, Devoted Studios operates as a trusted, flexible extension of our partners' internal teams. We are proud to be the development partner of choice for industry leaders such as:

  • Epic
  • Xbox
  • Meta
  • Obsidian Entertainment
  • Riot
  • Gearbox Software

We're looking for a Senior Graphic Designer to lead the visual execution of client pitches, capability decks, and creative presentations across our game development slate. This role sits at the intersection of design craft and business development, translating IP, tone, and brand voice into decks and materials that win business and represent our studio at the highest level.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Own the visual strategy for high-stakes pitches, deciding what needs art, data, motion, or narrative to land the story
  • Design and refine company capability decks, case study materials, and client-facing presentations true to each IP's visual language
  • Adapt quickly across wildly different aesthetics, from stylized casual to gritty triple-A, sometimes within the same week
  • Build reusable systems: templates, component libraries, and motion frameworks that scale design quality across multiple concurrent pitches
  • Interpret ambiguous creative direction from leadership and business development with minimal back-and-forth
  • Present work directly to internal stakeholders and, when needed, clients
  • Mentor junior and mid-level designers on both craft and professional judgment
  • Give final-eyes feedback on decks before they go out the door

Requirements

  • 5+ years of design experience, ideally with exposure to the games industry, entertainment, or a fast-paced agency environment
  • Expert-level proficiency in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and presentation tools (PowerPoint, Keynote, Google Slides)
  • A portfolio demonstrating range across visual styles, not just one polished look
  • Strong understanding of pitch narrative structure: hook, world, proof, ask
  • Experience building scalable design systems and templates for repeated use
  • A track record of taking initiative rather than waiting for a brief
  • Comfort pushing back constructively on creative direction that won't land, and making the case clearly
  • Genuine enthusiasm for unfamiliar IPs and new creative challenges
Nice to Have
  • Experience working in outsourcing, co-development, or work-for-hire studio environments
  • Familiarity with live-service, mobile, or casual game genres
  • Motion design or animation experience for pitch materials

Benefits

This a full-time salaried position with standard industry benefits in Canada.
