Senior Bookkeeper (Full-Charge Bookkeeper)

Salary: $55K - $65K; Location: Memphis, TN (Hybrid)

This position will primarily focus on servicing Forte's clients, providing comprehensive bookkeeping services and financial oversight. As a Senior Bookkeeper, you will serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring their financial records are accurate and up to date, overseeing junior bookkeepers, and maintaining strong client relationships.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Manage and maintain accurate financial records for Forte and its clients, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations
  • Oversee and support Junior Bookkeepers, providing guidance, training, and quality control to ensure accuracy and efficiency
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing their bookkeeping and financial inquiries promptly and professionally
  • Prepare and review sales tax, business tax, franchise & excise tax, and property tax returns
  • Ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations and financial reporting
  • Monitor and manage A/P & A/R processes using platforms such as BILL, Harvest, and QuickBooks Online
  • Review financial reports for errors, discrepancies, and areas for improvement, collaborating with clients to enhance their financial processes
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of bookkeeping procedures and systems
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with remote clients and stakeholders, providing exceptional customer service and support
  • Assist with budgeting, cash flow management, and financial forecasting for clients as needed
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of all financial information
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field or equivalent professional experience
  • Minimum of 4 years of bookkeeping experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or full-charge capacity
  • Non-profit bookkeeping and grant reporting/compliance a plus
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO ProAdvisor certification preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of A/P, A/R, reconciliations, payroll, and general ledger management
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and team members
  • High level of technical proficiency with digital tools, including Google Workspace (particularly Google Sheets), BILL Spend & Expense, Expensify, and project management platforms like ClickUp, Monday.com, or Asana
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Naturally curious, with a willingness to ask questions, seek clarification, and explore solutions when faced with unfamiliar transactions or challenges
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with industry best practices and a commitment to continuous learning and professional growth

  • This is a full-time position based in Memphis, TN.

Compensation & Benefits
  • $55K - $65K annually, depending on experience
  • 3 weeks (120 hours) PTO, plus numerous paid holidays and ~2 weeks off at the end of December
