What is remote garment pattern making?

Remote garment pattern making is the process of creating clothing patterns digitally or by hand, but working from a location outside of a traditional studio or factory. Pattern makers use specialized software or manual techniques to design, adjust, and finalize patterns that will be used to cut and sew garments. Communication with designers and production teams is typically done online, making the process flexible and accessible from anywhere. This approach is popular in the fashion industry due to its efficiency and ability to tap into global talent. Remote pattern makers must have strong technical skills and a good understanding of garment construction.

  • Exceptional problem-solving, critical thinking, decision-making, and prioritization in high-pressure, deadline-driven environments.
  • Effective multitasking, time-management, and organizational skills to drive tasks to completion across competing priorities.
  • Adaptable to change, resilient under stress, and able to flex with evolving project roadmaps and business needs.
  • High professional and ethical standards, including maintaining confidentiality of sensitive data and compliance with governance requirements.
