What is a Remote Full Stack Data Scientist?

A Remote Full Stack Data Scientist is a professional who works from any location to handle the end-to-end process of data science projects. This includes collecting and cleaning data, developing and training machine learning models, deploying solutions into production, and sometimes building user-facing applications. They are skilled in both back-end (data engineering, modeling) and front-end (visualization, application development) tasks. Remote Full Stack Data Scientists often collaborate with distributed teams using digital communication and project management tools. Their broad skill set allows them to manage the entire data pipeline and deliver actionable insights or products remotely.

How do Remote Full Stack Data Scientists typically collaborate with cross-functional teams in a virtual environment?

Remote Full Stack Data Scientists frequently work with product managers, engineers, and business analysts using collaboration tools such as Slack, Zoom, and project management platforms like Jira or Trello. Regular virtual meetings, clear documentation, and version control systems (like Git) help ensure transparency and alignment across teams. Effective communication and proactive updates are essential to keep projects on track and to integrate data-driven insights into the broader product development process.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Full Stack Data Scientist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Full Stack Data Scientist, you need a strong foundation in statistics, machine learning, data engineering, and programming languages like Python or R, usually supported by a relevant degree in computer science, statistics, or a related field. Familiarity with tools and frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, SQL databases, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), and experience with version control systems like Git are typically required. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and self-motivation skills are crucial for collaborating remotely and translating complex data insights to stakeholders. These combined abilities ensure effective end-to-end data solutions, seamless remote teamwork, and impactful business outcomes.

Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Full-stack Growth Engineer based in Netherlands.

As a Full-stack Growth Engineer, you will play a key role in building and scaling a product-led growth strategy from the ground up. This position offers the opportunity to own the complete self-service customer journey, from onboarding and activation to conversion and experimentation. You will combine engineering expertise, product thinking, analytics, and experimentation to create experiences that help users discover value quickly and grow sustainably. Working across product, design, marketing, sales, and engineering, you will establish growth practices and influence how teams build and measure impact. This role is ideal for a senior engineer who enjoys moving between strategy and execution while creating systems that directly contribute to business growth.

Accountabilities:
  • Build and own the self-service customer experience end-to-end, including sign-up flows, onboarding journeys, activation paths, and conversion experiences.
  • Design and optimize trial experiences by defining product limits, usage models, and upgrade opportunities that balance user value with business goals.
  • Develop mechanisms to identify high-intent users and create stronger connections between self-serve growth and sales-led opportunities.
  • Improve the first-time user experience by helping new customers reach meaningful product value quickly and intuitively.
  • Apply user behavior frameworks and growth principles to improve activation, engagement, and retention throughout the product journey.
  • Establish and scale an experimentation culture by building the necessary infrastructure for events, attribution, cohort tracking, and measurement.
  • Design, execute, and analyze experiments using structured methodologies, including control groups, statistical validation, guardrails, and long-term impact measurement.
  • Partner closely with product, engineering, design, marketing, and sales teams to turn insights into impactful product improvements.
  • Act as the internal growth engineering expert, helping raise experimentation and product-led development practices across the organization.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience building production software systems with a strong focus on growth engineering, experimentation, or product-led growth.
  • Strong full-stack engineering skills with experience in TypeScript, Node.js, and modern frontend frameworks such as React or Angular.
  • Deep understanding of experimentation methodologies, including A/B testing, control groups, statistical significance, exposure tracking, and longitudinal analysis.
  • Proven experience building or owning PLG funnels covering sign-up, activation, conversion, and payment journeys.
  • Strong product analytics expertise with tools such as Amplitude, Mixpanel, Segment, Statsig, LaunchDarkly, or similar platforms.
  • Experience working in environments where experimentation and data-driven decision-making are core engineering practices.
  • Ability to balance quantitative insights with strong product intuition and customer empathy.
  • Comfortable taking ownership of outcomes, moving quickly from strategy to implementation, and operating with autonomy.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Experience using AI tools in daily workflows and the ability to leverage emerging technologies responsibly.
  • Nice to have: experience integrating billing systems such as Stripe and understanding subscription management, upgrades, downgrades, and payment operations.
Benefits:
  • Competitive compensation package:
    • US-based compensation: $170k-200k USD plus equity.
    • Rest of world compensation: $95k-140k USD plus equity.
  • Equity options.
  • Unlimited paid time off with a culture that encourages employees to actually take it.
  • Monthly wellness stipend of $200.
  • Health insurance stipend.
  • Home office budget to support a productive remote setup.
  • Annual company offsite opportunities.
  • Fully remote working environment with flexibility across compatible time zones.
  • Opportunity to shape a growing product-led organization and build impactful systems from the ground up.
