Remote Frontend information

What is a remote frontend?

Remote Frontend Developers are professionals who specialize in building and maintaining the user-facing part of websites and web applications while working from a location outside of a traditional office environment. They use technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks (such as React, Angular, or Vue.js) to create responsive and interactive interfaces. These developers collaborate with teams and clients through digital tools, ensuring smooth communication and project management. Remote frontend roles offer flexibility and the opportunity to work for companies worldwide, provided the developer has reliable internet access.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a remote frontend?

To thrive as a Remote Frontend Developer, you need strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frontend frameworks like React or Angular, typically supported by a relevant degree or equivalent experience. Familiarity with version control systems (like Git), build tools, and possibly certifications in web development are highly valuable. Excellent communication, self-motivation, and problem-solving abilities are critical for effective collaboration and productivity in a remote environment. These skills and qualities enable the delivery of high-quality user interfaces, seamless teamwork, and successful project outcomes despite remote work challenges.

How does a remote frontend typically collaborate with design and backend teams?

Remote Frontend Developers often work closely with design and backend teams through digital collaboration tools such as Slack, Jira, Figma, and GitHub. Regular virtual meetings and clear documentation are essential to ensure alignment on project goals, design specifications, and API integrations. Strong communication skills and proactive updates help bridge the distance, allowing teams to efficiently resolve issues and deliver seamless user experiences. Embracing agile methodologies is common, enabling iterative feedback and continuous improvement across distributed teams.

What is the difference between Remote Frontend vs Remote Web Developer?

Job description

About Cleerly

We're Cleerly – a healthcare company that's revolutionizing how heart disease is diagnosed, treated, and tracked. We were founded in 2017 by one of the world's leading cardiologists and are a growing team of world-class engineering, operations, medical affairs, marketing, and sales leaders. We raised $223M in Series C funding in 2022 which has enabled rapid growth and continued support of our mission. In December 2024 we received an additional $106M in a Series C extension funding. Most of our teams work remotely and have access to our offices in Denver, Colorado, New, York, New York, Dallas, Texas, and Lisbon, Portugal with some roles requiring you to be on-site in a location.

Cleerly has created a new standard of care for heart disease through value-based, AI-driven precision diagnostic solutions with the goal of helping prevent heart attacks. Our technology goes beyond traditional measures of heart disease by enabling comprehensive quantification and characterization of atherosclerosis, or plaque buildup, in each of the heart arteries. Cleerly's solutions are supported by more than a decade of performing some of the world's largest clinical trials to identify important findings beyond symptoms that increase a person's risk of heart attacks.

At Cleerly, we collaborate digitally and use a wide variety of systems. Our people use Google Workspace (GMail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides), Slack, Confluence/Jira, and Zoom Video, prior experience in these areas is a plus. Role or department specific technology needs may vary and will be listed as requirements in the job description.

While we are mostly a remote company, travel is required for some team meetings and cross function projects typically once per month or once per quarter, for some roles like sales or external facing roles travel could be up to 90% of the time.

Cleerly is committed to providing safe and effective medical software that meets customer needs and our intended use. The adherence to all applicable regulatory and statutory requirements establishes a clear framework for setting measurable quality objectives. Our commitment to continually improving our products and processes proactively manages risks, ensuring ongoing compliance throughout the entire software lifecycle.  Understanding this role's relevance and importance is critical to achieving Cleerly's quality objectives.

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a hands-on Staff Full-Stack Software Engineer to help build and own core components of Cleerly's clinical platform. This is a high-impact individual contributor role spanning both frontend and backend — you will work across the stack, from the React/TypeScript interfaces clinicians use to the Python and Java services and AWS infrastructure that power them.

Our platform connects to hospital systems, processes cardiac CT studies through our FDA-cleared AI, and delivers quantified clinical results back to cardiologists and health systems. You will own meaningful parts of that pipeline end to end.

We are open to candidates who lean either frontend or backend, provided you are genuinely comfortable working across the full stack. What matters most is engineering depth, the ability to own platform components independently, and enthusiasm for building software that directly affects patient care.

This is not an architecture-and-delegate role. We need someone who writes production code, debugs production issues, and takes personal ownership of the systems they build.

 What You'll Own

Frontend and Clinical Interfaces

  • Build and own React/TypeScript interfaces used by cardiologists, radiologists, and clinical teams to review cases, interpret results, and finalize reports
  • Design clear, high-usability clinical interfaces that handle complex multi-source data with strong information hierarchy and rigorous edge-case handling
  • Implement workflow features including case status, review queues, exception handling, edits, and sign-off flows
  • Implement secure viewer launch flows — opening the Cleerly viewer, embedded HTML5 components, or external viewers via deep-link or SDK integration

Backend Services and APIs

  • Design, build, and own backend services in Python or Java that power the clinical platform — REST APIs, data processing, and integration layers
  • Design data models, API contracts, and service boundaries that support a scalable, maintainable platform
  • Ensure audit-safe data handling, PHI protection, and data integrity across all services
  • Contribute to platform reliability through observability, monitoring, error handling, and performance optimization

Cloud Infrastructure and Platform

  • Build and operate cloud-native services on AWS — ECS, Lambda, SQS, S3, RDS, CloudWatch — in a regulated healthcare environment
  • Contribute to infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment automation
  • Help scale platform components as Cleerly expands to additional clinical sites and health systems

Clinical System Integration

  • Work with FHIR and HL7 standards for structured clinical outputs and EHR write-back
  • Partner with Backend, Viewer, and CoreLab teams to ensure clinical workflows function reliably end to end
  • Integrate with third-party clinical systems, reporting engines, and dictation tools as needed

Technical Leadership

  • Make and defend independent architectural decisions across the stack
  • Provide technical leadership through code reviews, design reviews, and mentoring
  • Collaborate directly with clinical stakeholders — cardiologists, radiologists, and CoreLab teams — to shape workflows that impact patient care
  • Contribute to regulated software delivery: requirements traceability, change impact analysis, and validation support

 What We're Looking For

Required

  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with demonstrable depth across the stack
  • Strong React and TypeScript — you are genuinely comfortable owning complex production interfaces
  • Strong backend engineering in Python or Java — you write and own production services, not just scripts
  • AWS production experience — you have built and operated cloud-native services, not just deployed to a VM
  • Solid API design and integration skills — you can design and consume APIs, handle edge cases, and reason about data integrity end to end
  • Experience working in healthcare, regulated, or otherwise high-stakes software environments
  • Strong testing discipline — rigorous handling of edge cases, error states, partial results, and latency
  • Ability to operate in a regulated environment — requirements traceability, change impact analysis, validation support
  • Independent technical judgment — you can own platform components and make sound decisions without constant oversight

 Nice to Have

  • Experience building clinician-facing interfaces — radiology, cardiology, or clinical workflow applications
  • FDA-regulated medical device or SaMD experience (510k, De Novo, IEC 62304)
  • DICOM knowledge — C-STORE, C-FIND, DICOMweb, structured reporting, or medical imaging data handling
  • Working knowledge of at least one healthcare interoperability standard (FHIR or HL7 v2), or the ability to ramp quickly
  • Experience embedding or launching medical viewers (OHIF/Cornerstone, HTML5 viewers, iframes)
  • Prior integration with commercial reporting or dictation tools (Nuance, M*Modal)
  • Spring framework, Kubernetes, Docker, or Terraform experience
  • Experience with AI/ML platforms or integrating model outputs into production applications
 Why This Role

This is a role for an engineer who wants genuine ownership across the stack in a system where the output directly affects patient care. You'll build interfaces clinicians rely on, the services behind them, and the cloud infrastructure that keeps it all running. If you've built full-stack products in healthcare, regulated, or high-stakes environments and want to apply that experience to one of the most important problems in cardiovascular medicine, we'd like to talk. Why You Should Apply
