What is a remote front end engineer?

Remote Front End Engineers are software developers who specialize in building the user-facing parts of websites and web applications while working from a location outside of a traditional office. They use technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to create interactive and visually appealing interfaces that users interact with directly. Working remotely, they collaborate with teams via online communication tools and are often responsible for ensuring that web applications are responsive, accessible, and performant across different devices and browsers.

How do remote front end engineers typically collaborate with design and back-end teams to ensure seamless project delivery?

Remote Front End Engineers often use collaborative tools like Slack, Jira, and Figma to communicate effectively with both design and back-end teams. Regular virtual meetings and clear documentation help bridge the gap caused by physical distance. Engineers are expected to participate in code reviews, provide feedback on UI/UX designs, and coordinate API integrations to ensure a smooth workflow. Clear communication and proactive engagement with team members are key to overcoming challenges that arise from remote collaboration.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote front end engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Front End Engineer, you need strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frameworks like React or Angular, often supported by a relevant degree or coding bootcamp. Familiarity with version control systems (such as Git), build tools, and UI/UX design principles is typically required. Excellent communication, self-motivation, and problem-solving skills are crucial for effective remote collaboration and project delivery. These competencies ensure high-quality, maintainable user interfaces and seamless teamwork in a distributed environment.

What is the difference between Remote Front End Engineer vs Remote Web Developer?

While both roles require similar technical skills, the Front End Engineer role emphasizes UI/UX and interactive features, making it more specialized in front-end technologies.

Builder (End-to-End Owner)

EXANTE

On-site, Remote

Full-time

Job description

About The Role

We're looking for a Builder (End-to-End Owner). This is a hands-on individual-contributor builder role - no people/team management.

Reporting Line - Head of Strategy and Execution

Worksite: Remote/ Hybrid

Responsibilities:

  • Own assigned problems end-to-end - discover the need with stakeholders, write the spec, build the solution with AI coding agents, test it, deploy it, and operate it in production, with no developer handoff
  • Build and ship working internal tools/apps (front-end, backend, data) on the CC platform to automate manual work and improve Sales Mind/onboarding outcomes
  • Define requirements and make the product calls: form hypotheses, validate with users before building, and turn ambiguous asks into concrete, testable specs
  • Drive your own delivery and reporting: keep a tight personal cadence, track progress with metrics, give quantified status, and analyse data/outcomes to decide what to do next
  • Operate with production discipline: staged rollouts, tests, rollback plans, and documentation so others can run what you built

Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of shipping working software end-to-end using AI coding tools (e.g. Claude / agentic dev / Cursor / Copilot) - a portfolio of things you personally built and shipped. A traditional CS/engineering background is not required
  • Strong product & ownership instinct: turns vague problems into validated specs, decides scope, prioritises, owns the outcome
  • Enough full-stack range to direct AI and unblock it: can read and iterate on front-end (e.g. React) and backend (e.g. Python/SQL), deploy, and debug when the AI gets stuck
  • Analytical rigour: works from live data, quantifies, chases root cause, refuses dirty/unverified data
  • Self-directed delivery and clear written communication; manages stakeholders calmly under pressure
  • Bias to build their own tooling rather than wait for IT/dev

What we offer:

  • Competitive salary that reflects your experience and the value you bring.
  • Flexibility that fits your life - work from home, from our office, or a mix of both. You decide what works best.
  • Flexible benefits package - choose the options that suit your life, not a one-size-fits-all bundle.
  • A genuinely good place to work - an informal, collaborative culture where ideas are heard and bureaucracy stays out of your way.
  • Continuous learning - ongoing training, education programs, and the support to deepen your expertise in a fast-moving industry.
  • Connection beyond your desk - events that bring our teams together to network and celebrate.
  • Global exposure - work side by side with talented colleagues from all over the world, across a business serving clients in 100+ countries.
