THE ROLE

EBONY is seeking a freelance Project Manager to drive the editorial and creative execution of the Power 100 program. This role oversees copy and creative direction across the Editorial HUB, and serves as the day-to-day point person keeping all Content team deliverables moving.

RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):Editorial & Copy Management
  • Recruit and manage writers for the Power 100 writeups
  • Edit copy and manage overall copy flow
  • Manage factcheckers and copyeditors across all Power 100 materials, including site copy, signage, event menu, and video
  • Partner with the EBONY editorial team to copyedit the 100 bio blurbs
  • Manage the program booklet
  • Creative Direction & Editorial HUB

  • Establish creative direction for the Editorial HUB from an assetproduction standpoint (headshots, blurbs, hero video)
  • Coordinate with the photo studio on asset production
  • Provide feedback on and implement content deliverables across the Editorial HUB
  • Provide feedback on social media rollout and amplification
  • Provide feedback on the HUB’s design and layout
  • Act as the daytoday consult moving all Content team creative deliverables forward
  • Program & Event Execution
  • Speaker scripting
  • Program copywriting
  • Gather email and mailing addresses for nominees
  • Coordinate with EVP, Editorial on budget expenditures for EP100 creative and graphic needs
  • Attend departmental Power 100 meetings several times a week
  • QUALIFICATIONS
  • Proven project management experience in editorial, media, or events
  • Strong copyediting and copywriting skills
  • Experience recruiting and managing writers and editorial support staff
  • Comfort liaising with senior talent, committees, and crossfunctional teams
  • Ability to manage timelines, budgets, and multiple creative work streams in a remote setting
